I am posting this for IWD contest. But I dont know whether this is the way to blog for the contest.

I got married at the age of 16. I just finished my SSLC that is 11 th standard that time. I lost my father when I was in the sixth standard. I had two elder sisters unmarried. My mother felt we all should have minimum education and get married at the earliest. She got worried about our safety if something happened to her. So one by one when all of us finished SSLC, she fixed the alliances.

My husband and in laws are known and nice people, but not financially sound ones. My DH was working in a public sector and with that a huge family of FIL, MIL, we two, four SILs and Two BILs had to survive. Still we all were so happy together. My MIL adviced me to go for higher studies and she gave the example of her life for why she thought women should get education and stand on their own. Only our two brothers are not well educated above graduation because they were not interested. We made all the four sisters well educated with MA Med, CA , Mcom and home science post graduate. After their marriage they all now having good job and well settled.

After the delivery of my second son, with my MIL s assurance, I joined for B com along with my SIL . You know doing Bcom through distance education means lots of private coaching. I go in the morning and back by the evenings only after attending tutions for accountancy, costing and income tax. Even at home I had to work hard on economics and law papers. All the house hold responsibilities and kids caring, my MIL took alone for three years and made me a graduate with distinction finally.

After seeing my interest my tution master from the parellel college offered me a job as an accountant in his college. Again it was my MIL not hus who encouraged me to carry on. We two felt guilty for MIL s over work.

When I gave my first months salary to my MIL and asked for her blessings, I saw her very emotional for the first time. Nobody else gave her their earnings to my MIL before. Ofcourse you might have understood about my FILs part. My hus's salary will be credited in the bank and all the expenses and procurement were done by him directly. All my SILs got employment only after their marriage, so naturally I became the first person to do so.

In addition to that when my two sons finished their Btech and MBA from Indias top most institutions, her feelings were beyond words. For both my DILs, her only demand was that they should be well educated. By gods grace, first one is a product of BITs pilani and second is specialised in speech and hearing.

From the lesson I learnt from my dear MIL, I made my first DIL got her MBA from Oxford University London and the second one to register for her Phd now. Even though my MIL is not with us anymore, I am sure that she will be happy there in the swarg to see all of us in the learning process still.
