The number of women tourists visiting the country has gone down by 35% in the last three months following the brutal gang-rape and death of a paramedical student in Delhi, says a survey. India is a country known for its diversity and culture and rich traditions. No matter however long a tourist stays in India, it is next to impossible to discover India fully. The Tourism Industry generates a very good foreign income. It is a shame for tourism to decline because of such a reason. As RadiantFlower puts it, hope this is a serious wake-up call for the county.
Even my colleagues at work keep asking me is India safe? Were you brought up safe? On public transport where I have seen posters of plan your vacation to Asia which had a picture of Taj Mahal, now I see the same board with a different message "Please safe girls. 66% of women out in the country are not given education (points to India map)" Its a shame for our country. Hope we realise this and work on it
