    When it comes to sports, I’m a fair-weather friend. I usually watch only after a big win or when it’s almost certain. I learned about India’s women’s cricket team after my FB feed was flooded with reels. It was heartening to read about Jemimah Rodrigues — such a genuine, authentic range of emotions from her and her parents. I really appreciated the raw way she talked about the mental struggles of the past month. So wonderful to see women’s cricket getting more notice, and to read the encouraging words from Kohli, Gavaskar, and others. No matter the outcome in the final with SA, I hope these girls and we all cherish these beautiful moments.

    Weird after-thought: after watching a few reels of Jemimah on the field, I started noticing her uniform, gloriously covered in mud after her epic innings. :grinning: And, of course, my mind immediately went on a tangent about the best way to wash all that hard-earned dirt off it! :grinning::grinning:

    World Cup women’s Semi Final
    She came at no 3 and anchored and emerged as a best batter remaining not out scoring a century + . A stunning win for India and equally stunning defeat to Australia. God Bless Indian team today (2nd Nov, ‘25) at Navi Mumbai to win the Cup triumphing over South Africa.

    @Rihana,

    Invincible Australia and England being removed by the finalists India and South Africa is an irony and whoever wins the final will still be their first time to win ODI World Cup. I watched the full innings of Indian women in the semi-final and I thought they lack acceleration of the score after 30 overs. The way Jemimah, Harman Preet, Deepti, and Richa played changed the fortune of Indian women. Australia was overconfident knowing Indian women lack acceleration. Even in the final, many players didn't accelerate the score (except Richa Gosh) as South Africa began dominating well. Indian bowling attack is impressive. I am anxiously waiting for the results in the final whether SA will score 299. With that score of 298, it is anyone's game.

    Dear Ri,
    I am so far away from the cricketing world....But I did pay some attention to women's cricket! Perhaps the fact that it is about women? Doesn't mean I am following it, but looks like I can follow here now...with all the updates!

    It is so elevating to see Indian women fought till the end to win the ODI World Cup! It is beginning of building the women's cricket faster in India encouraging young talents to turn in large numbers and believe in them. Congratulations to the Indian Women's Team for winning the World Cup!

    :banana:My heart ebbs with the hard fought win against South Africa. I enjoyed every ball batted by both sides but I was amazed at the way Indian women shaped the arena with fine variations of shots and a seemingly innocuous yet tricky bowling thanks to Deepti.

    All the retired captains of women cricket team of Yester decades stood up in ovation at the moment of victory was one of glorious sights to behold.

    Now I wonder who would get the award of Kel Rathna & Padma Awards!

    Golry to the women of India and to the Bharat Matha.
    Tributes from world over enjoying the victory celebration and jubilation is very heartening that evidences The might of Indian S I N D O O R.

    IND vs SA Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025 Final: India celebrate with the trophy.
    IND vs SA Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025 Final: India defeated South Africa by 52 runs to clinch their maiden Women's World Cup title, in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. Chasing 299 runs, South Africa were bowled out for 246 in 45.3 overs, as Deepti Sharma took a five-wicket haul. Shafali Verma was also key for India, smacking 87 off 78 balls and also taking two wickets! Laura Wolvaardt was left shellshocked, falling to Deepti for 101 during the run chase. Then Deepti struck again to remove Chloe Tryon, completing her four-wicket haul. Nadine de Klerk was the final wicket lost as Deepti struck again. Wolvaardt and her opening partner Tazmin Brits got off to a strong start, but an error in judgment from the latter saw her fall victim to a direct hit from Amanjot Kaur, departing for 23 off 35 balls. Meanwhile, Anneke Bosch had a miserable outing wih the bat, falling for a six-ball duck to Shree Charani. Sune Luus did try to support Laura Wolvaardt, but the former South Africa skipper fell to Shafali Verma's golden arm, departing for 25 off 31 balls. Then Shafali struck again, removing Marizanne Kapp for four off five balls.

    Certain numbers are significant and when one cites that his mind quickly associate with a record of some other event in history and or in other realms.
    For example 1947 to me and I presume for every Indian it reminds year of India’s Independence.
    Like wise cricket lovers certain numbers are significant.
    Here are some numbers, and I expect cricket lovers among IL folks to associate them in past cricket held in all three formats.
