What does your dentist recommend?

 

My dad and mom never removed any tooth till their last breath. Such a strong upper and lower jaws that the roots of each was tooth because of their teeth hygiene. Thus it is no wonder they outshine others in their wisdom of their age group in 80s and 90s.

Unless there is decay or root is rotten or tooth is rocking there is no need to extract.

In 1954 or 55 while playing thief and police, I was chased by police Rajalakshmi and she almost caught me when I dashed my face awkwardly against an I section iron pillar. The after effect of bluing of enamel of upper right canine tooth due to that impact was gradual over almost 3 decades.

In 1980s it was not even shaking a bit and a senior male dentist Dr Sharma of Sion examined and suggested that that particular tooth be extracted lest it’s rotting root may poison adjacent incisor and pre molar tooth on either side. He even averred that not attending to it may lead to damage the nerves of brain and I may turn mad and must do the extraction same day.

My spouse suggested that as there are urgent things to be carried out till next fortnight for which my physical presence needed, dentist may suggest to overcome the pain and something to shield the bluish colour of that tooth. Half heartedly agreeing, Dr Sharma put a dull-white cap covering and the blue hidden. With that cap, I managed till 2022, when one fine morning, on its own that tooth departed from me.

Now in Oct, 2024 am not yet mad nor I did anything for the root that was part of that bluish canine tooth. In a brick structure if one brick is loosened and extracted the others by its side in sympathy would like to ged rid of the wall!

 

A man was seated in dentist-chair with his mouth wide open and dentist focused his bright head light into it and proceeding with his inspection. In between the patient enquired the charges. The doctor said ₹2000.
The man in chair responded, “Dear Doc, there is no need for you to repeat your fees three times.”
Then Doctor reacted, “Dear Sir, I said only once. You heard the echoes of my fees from your mouth.”
