Why is it so hard to make friends in USA ???? I guess been Indian is not enough ..it just have to be north ,south ,east or west Indian ......and when we find someone then we look for telugu ,tamil ,kannada, hindi, marathi, punjabi speaking friends .......

Don't look for Indian friends only. Local people are very nice too. Have International friends. Then you will get to know their culture and customs and good and bad.

People are comfortable talking in their own language. Now we have an opportunity to meet people. they should use that. But people don't. It is sad.

What about you? do you have friends in US?

I think people already have their own friends, groups etc. They don't care to make new friends. I moved to the bay area few years ago and still don't have lot of friends. After certain age it is difficult to make friends. I am a senior citizen and I want to make friends with my age group. I would like to have a lot of friends and have good times.

i agree ladies , i have been here 18 yrs. and same issue. and please a special request to my indian friends, when u r shopping, walking, etc and u see another indian, please smile and acknowledge ur countrymen rather than ignoring, learn from other cultures, it doesnt cost anything and just makes the other person feel good and its always good to stick together, unity is strength u know!

Rojamalar, I am your neighbor. I am also a senior citizen. I wish we can meet.

ravioli1970, you request is good. I try my best to smile at our people. Most of them don't want to smile. They are woried because we may ask them for favor or they may think we are in Art of living or amway.

But it is not wrong to smile at your fellow Indians.

    Hi CL,
I don't live in Mountain view anymore, but still in the bay area. We can still be friends. I think we will have common interests.

I agree... I can see the Desi saying hello and smiles to the Americans and not to their own country men. I have been in US for an year and it was really a tough job to get a Desi friend. I can see ladies who have kids will talk to each other just for accompanying their children. Why it is happening ?? !!

I totally agree with u all, its very difficult to make friendship. I fall under early 30s but im yet to be blessed with kids. So people who have kids dont include us (me & 2 other friends) only one of a my friend who has kids includes us.
