Why do we wear bangles, ear studs, nosering, metti, thirumangalyam etc.,

    Very interesting reading.

    I wore them because I liked them, not because religion told me to. (I'm not religious now, but I was raised Christian.)

    However, I have to contest the "no pain in childbirth" notion for nose piercings. First kid, pre nose ring, very little pain. Second kid, post nose ring, excruciating intense pain.

    There seems to be a healthy debate here about this topic...:) But personally i feel that whatever our elders had been practicing and preaching will have some specific reason .

    If we can trust and believe the chinese acupuncture, acupressure, qigong, reflexology, japanese reiki, massage etc., there is no harm if we wear a few light weight ornaments ( with which we are really comfortable with) and benefit from that.

    Let Fashion and health benefits go hand in hand...:)
