Ladies, Does anyone know why puja items are made using brass, bronze and copper material.. Occassionally silver, but mostly its the above 3.. Any specific reason.. Also how do we differentiate between brass and bronze vessels? Thanks, pri
Silver is thin and is not strong compared to the items made of alloys. Brass, bronze are in use from ancient times. So considered traditional and used in all pooja requirements. Moreover, they have high tolerance to heat as their melting point is high and suits the pooja purpose because of their durability and when maintained well shines well. Brass when washed shines like gold & bright Bronze will be little brown in colour and will not shine like brass due to the combination of metals used and has an antique touch.
These Metals have good absorbing power .Though I am not an expert they say using copper vessel and putting tulasi leaves gives the water immune power to fight chloestral. Not sure abt bronze and silver but I know COpper is good .
Hi Firstly why we shd use only copper n brass they are holy. Stainless steel should not be used due its being steel/iron or irumbu. We should not use irumbu [steel] for holy or religious matters. Silver is expensive and not all items can be bought in silver or using them on regular basis is safe. So the best alternative is brass or copper especially as pooja articles. Only bell can be in bronze and no other items. Bronze will break if falls down accidentally, which is not good sign. Best Rgds Shanti
