even i have heard abt the silver foil that is spread over the sweets.yes it is made out from cow's intestine it seems.

Even i drink only tea and i dont like coffee. I use jaggery for tea and cardamom so that the tea flavours good, u can also avoid jaggery.

sugar has more cal than jaggery, so i prefer that(although the diff is minor )

I also use artificial sweetners.

palm candy?

What is palm candy called in tamil? What are the english names for kalkandu, karupatti. Here in grocery store i saw raw sugar and cane sugar. what is cane sugar.
Could some give list of diff sweeteners with names in tamil and english or even other languages, so it would be easy ref for all.

Palm candy-I think is Panam vellam in Tamil.Not sure though.

 

do u have any idea about where we can get palm jaggery in new jersey,is it the same jaggery which is given to women after delivery.

Sweeteners contain aspartame, which is surrounded by alot of controversy. I personally have a bad reaction to it.
