Chitra, the reason why we are advised against sesame seeds in general is because it causes heat. In case of Hummus, I think you should be OK because you are not going to eat Tahini as whole. I normally use 1 tbsp of Tahini for 1 standard tin of chickpeas. You can use 1/2 tbsp or 1/4 tbsp just in case.
As a matter of fact I ate hummus all through my pregnancy with no issues. Since I avoided mayo (due to raw eggs), I even used this as a sandwich spread. Hummus is recommended by many during pregnancy because its protein rich.

In this case, if you are too concerned, don't buy hummus. Instead make some at home.

    Recipe:
    Chick peas: 1 tin
    Tahini: 1/4 tbsp
    Lemon Juice: 4 tbsp
    garlic: 2 cloves
    salt
    olive oil

Method: blend everything except oil. pour a little oil just before eating.

Enjoy....dont worry. You CAN have this. Indulge in your cravings.
