    Hi OP,

My husband worked as a HOD for English department in a CBSE school and later headed the Cambridge division in another international school. I live in a different city from where you are trying to move so i have no idea about the good schools in the place you are looking for.

However, here are my suggestions for selecting the syllabus for your children.

My husband strongly recommends whoever has approached him for suggestions regarding the syllabus to take Cambridge syllabus or IGCSE. Its because of the way the curriculum is set and it has a global perspective on each and every subject.

I wouldn't recommend IB or CBSE at all. ICSE is another option that i would prefer and suggest but it has immense syllabus and has in depth teaching of a subject but i guess it would take time for your child to adapt to Indian style of studying.

And yes, if you want to crack any competitive exams in India, it would be wise to take coaching classes for the same from 11th and 12th standard onwards. Irrespective of which syllabus a child has taken, coaching is quite mandatory since the way each subject is taught in any school is so different from how they would be tested in these competitive exams.

Though the curriculum is IGCSE, the majority of the schools here donot have competent teachers to teach the subject in the way it is to be taught. A lot of these international schools teach the subjects in the normal way a CBSE school teaches them. So i would recommend you visit each and every school you have shortlisted and talk to the teachers and management before putting your child in any school.
