which language do kids speak...

My 1 cent..
My cousin in usa used to speak her mother tongue fluently when she was a kid !! But now she is in grade 8 , she cant speak the lang so well..When I asked my aunt , she said that my sis gradually started incorporating more english words as she joined school...and now answers in english when talked to !
