    Hi all,
Me n my family planning to move to Texas from cold state in few years. I love gardening,so need big backyard and good school too. I searched few cities, I couldn’t find any city with 8+ school rating in all elementary, middle and high school. Where do you live ? Which city has good Indian population? This move is going to be permanent and last stop.

Any reason to prefer texas over orlando, florida or atlanta, georgia.

Maybe @Laks09, @Ranchu and @Flyhigher could share their opinions on these warm weather locations.

I like Georgia. I have few ideas about climate and place in Texas based on google n few friends but not about educational system. Recently checking Georgia climate and good climate. How is Georgia climate? Do they have snow ? Are their weather better than Texas? Past 11 years I am in very cold place so I don’t want to move to very very hot climate in summer. I need a tropical climate with not very hot temperatures in summer above 110. Also I want lengthy summer place with few months 2-4 month light winter). How is job opportunities in Georgia for IT professionals.

    Weather-
Weather wise Texas is slightly better than Florida, the humidity is higher in Florida. If you like beaches, humidity is not a problem, flat terrain then Florida is best. Georgia is much cooler than these two.

    Cost of living-
In terms of cost of living Florida and Texas are tax free states and cost of living is less than Georgia. Median home price is less in Texas than Florida.

    Education-
All these 3 states have good public universities like university of Florida, university of central Florida in Orlando, Florida state university, Georgia institute of technology. They provide good scholarships too.

I have worked in Atlanta , Houston in terms of traffic I felt Florida is ok,Houston and Atlanta traffic is crazy. Florida have more floating population and retired population. I feel Florida is little laid back, relaxing nature. We wanted to leave close to beaches so we moved to Florida.

Thanks. I like Georgia than Texas. I heard it is not that hot like Phoenix and Texas but good summer. I like to move to Georgia but I don’t have much about the place bcoz none of friends are there. Recently I hear most of them moving to Texas. Anyone from Georgia, can you tell me. How is public school there? Whether it snow there? How many months winter there? I love gardening. I like to move to Georgia or Texas just for this reason.

I’ve lived in Atlanta 9 years before. In that time our kids were young, so we stayed in the Dunwoody area. Schools are excellent in Alpharetta, Johns creek and Suwanee area.

    pros
less property tax compare to TX
Atlanta also gets hot but better than Dallas

    cons
    income tax 5%
    traffic
