Where to buy thanjavur ponni rice in Jeddah

    Help!:drowning
    fed up of eating basmati rice, longing for ponni rice but I cant find where to buy it. Please can somebody from jeddah tell me where I can get Thanjavur ponni rice in Jeddah or nearby? And why is Boost or Complan not available anywhere. Wherever we asked there was only Ovaltine available.....

    Please reply ASAP.

    Thanjavur ponni rice will be available @ LULU Hypermarket. Pls check...
    Complan is alo available there...

    Ponni Rice is available in Sharfiya Market :)
    I was in jeddah quite few years back and use to get it in Sharfiyah market

    Sorry for interjecting without anything of substance to your post. It made me remember the delicious ponni rice preparations we enjoy whenever we visit the Cauvery delta region. Truly, Ponni rice is delicious!

    Thank you butterfly and mala for your replies. We are in Rabigh now. Hopefully, we will soon make a trip to Jeddah to buy Ponni Rice. And yes, Gita, Ponni Rice is delish.

    Right now we are using parboiled rice from a whole sale shop in Balad area Jeddah(I hope I got it right). The grains are 1.5 times the size of Ponni and a little chewier. I dont know its name in Tamil, but in Chalai in TVm in malayalam it s called Doppi ari.

    I wasnt aware that there is a Lulu supermarket in Jeddah also.

    Thanks again, I found this section very helpful when clearing doubts about Life for NRI's in Saudi when in UAE. I knew I will get help here from you generous people.
