where to buy smocked dresses in chennai?

Dear friends, I actually wanted to post this thread under 'shopping' but that link doesn't seem to work. I'm looking for some shop names n addresses in Chennai (if it's in Adyar, Mylai, Besantnagar, Alwarpet,T.nagar would be great!) where one can get smocked frocks, tops for girl babies. I'm not a big fan of huge stores like Westside or the ones in T nagar but do recommend any shop that you think sells good quality stuff. Thank you! Latha

Hi,

I recommend Naidu hall in pondy bazaar.It is little costly there but the quality is good especially for kids.

Hi Latha,
There is a school for deaf and blind near Gemini Flyover where they do smocking and the proceeds go to help these kids. They do it on silk with can cost around Rs. 500 and poplin pr bizzy lizzy which arnges form rs. 250 to Rs. 300.

Thank you very much dear friends I was digging up all the lists that i usually make whenever i visit home and get recommendations from friends. The school near Gemini flyover never crossed my mind my friend had got a cute set when my son was born... all hand embroidered. Thanks Janani for the tip. I'll ask my husband to check that out. Yes also VTI, Chithra madam. I was there last year but couldn't see much because my boy was unwell That's great! Latha

Does the school do crochet and knitting that is sweaters and baby sets..somebody in our forum wants it. just thought will check if these people do those also.

I know an asha based organisation does that..the name is not coming right now.bonkbonk

They do baby sets , yes, about sweaters you have to find out if they do. They do other kinds of embroidery also. Bought stuff for my kids, the work was awesome.
