    Vanathi,
You could check out are Zapp the kidswear line by raymonds in Citi centre and then Gini and Jony which has variety for boys and girls in Panagal Park near Kumaran.

Ok - I've made a note of all the names - will have a lot of fun shopping (window-shopping at the very least!). Thanks Janani.

    Hi Latha,

I dont know the address in Chennai. I had mentioned the one in Pondycherry. But, if you can try out a few outlets in Cissons, Alsa Mall Egmore..the basement shops in the corner. They will have a few and some in Fountain Plaza might also have some cotton outlets. But not sure if they sell export surplus.

Anyway, if your parents can visit pondicherry, they will have many shops in the ashram area.

    Poornima.

This is not about buying but dress sizes in India. My brother and SIL brought dresses for Riya that don't have sizes in them(as in here where they say months or years) but has numbers like 12, 16, 18 etc. Can somebody please interpret these numbers for me?

They are all big for Riya, but I want to store them in her armoire according to the age so I can use them wihtout missing out. Thanks.

Are you talking about ethnic wear... this is the sizing we found in K's kurtas and pajamas. I think they have to do with the height of the kid. K is roughly or 32 " tall now and we just took out a Kurta that's got 18 on the tab. He was on 16 till last month and he was around 31'' then (he's suddenly outgrown a few clothings. I got him size 20 kurta/pajama for his 2nd birthday and it looks like it will fit him lengthwise till he is 36''. I think it increases in increments of 2 inches or 5 cm.

I bought a couple of shirts for P from India and they are labelled 22. They fit him well and he is 3 years and 2 months. The 24 size is a big bigger, so Raj you can work backwards from there :)

No, western party wear - frocks and dresses.

The height thing is kind of confusing but you could be right. Riya can wear size 14 now and last month she was 27 1/2 " long. Thanks, Krithika, it makes sense now.
