    Dear Ganga aunty
Thanks for your encouragement and ofcourse sharing the view about the topic.
So you visit poornatrayeesa temple often. Is that temple in the Eranakulam north .So the festival must be grand with all those decorating stuffs and music.
Its true all these coconuts, elephants, and lakes are part of our day to day life, that we can't think about a life outside that frame.
Ganga aunty, the fact is that eventhough everyone feel bad for hurting elephants we can't do anything to protect this cute looking giants.
    Thanking you :thankyou2:

Thanks for your good will and FB
Its true Aswini these animals are so cute looking that as amma15 said we can call them gentle giants.I don't know about such a custom of elephants blessing humans for money, seems cruel.

I love elephants. But never feel like teasing them. Elephants are kept in temples, where it is suppose to get a good shelter and protection. Obviously, they enjoy more in their home, forest or at least in Zoo. Not only elephants, We should salvage and safe guard all the wild animals, from the people who are making money out of them.
If not, no wonder.... one day or the other elephants will start playing football.....

I LOVE elephants. They are one of the most fascinating and majestic animals on earth. Sadly we have driven them slowly out of their habitats and poached and killed them for ivory and try to tame them and perform tricks in circuses and temples and carnivals for our own monetary benefits. Elephants need a lot of territory and they are not suited for small and confined spaces. This includes circuses, temples etc and the trainers of these elephants abuse them and keep them chained up in small spaces for human amusement.
Elephants are gentle animals only in their natural habitats and when they are left alone. The most dangerous terrestrial animal is a bull elephant which is under a hormonal imbalance called musth when its testosterone levels reach high levels. They like humans, are one of the few species that has progressive learning and cognitive abilities and they undergo trauma and remember those incidents and associate patterns with their traumatic experiences. Most elephant rampages and human tragedies are a result of them reacting violently to their past traumatic experiences (like their mum being killed by poachers etc).
I don't want to come across too political but please, do not encourage or support the practice of elephants in captivity in confined spaces, be it temples or circuses or other human amusement for monetary gains involving elephants. You are supporting abuse and cruelty to these creatures by doing that. These fascinating and majestic animals need our care and support and conservation efforts to survive as a species and they are worth all our conservation efforts and their numbers are steadily dwindling both in Asia and Africa due to human destruction of their habitats and poaching.
