when can I give lentils like chick pea, rajma to infant

    Hi I am curious to know when I can give lentils like green moong, chickpea, rajma etc? Do I have to wait till baby is a year old?

    Right now I just give yellow moong dal and orange masoor dal.

    Cooks: I gave chickpea for my DD as early as 8-9 months in kootu. Of course it was probably 5-6 chickpeas in it. I would grind it with her food and give. Any lentils will create gas problem so just watch and give. You can introduce green moong dal anytime now.

    Hi dear.Usually pulses like moong n matki are preferred since they are comparatively easier to digest.I would suggest you to start with moong first and then matki and then slowly introduce the rest.Also whenever introducing pulses to kids,first roast them without any oil and then use...this makes them easier to digest.Same can be done with dals.

    My daughter has been eating all legumes, chickpeas and rajma included, since 6 months of age. She hasn't had any digestive issues so far. I would introduce one legume per week, and keep adding new ones as long as your baby is tolerating it normally.
