My current chai is a simple one:

add cardamom and grated ginger to water in small steel vessel (1 cup, just me)
when it starts to boil, add 1 tsp Wagh Bakri Premium Tea
After 20-25 seconds, add some milk.
Add sugar to cup, log in to IL or check email till chai boils. : )

Pour using plastic tea strainer bought from India eons ago.
Sit down and have chai .. with mindfulness whenever possible.

    Ah chai....
I make just like you described it with either grated ginger or cardamom pods or fresh Basil leaves. Occasionally I add fennel seeds.

My parents brought about 10 packs of Tata Premium tea a few years ago...it will last another decade .

    Mindfulness...yes!!

Our ingredients are almost the same yet so different in one way: I add tsps of sugar in number that cannot be disclosed.

 Funnily, I never bought tea from India or had it mailed. I guess due to always having had Indian stores nearby.

I once got dried home made ginger-garlic paste thin "patties" air-mailed..... Used to soak in warm water to use. : )

With the WFH, my chai session means that in addition to minding what's in the mind, I mind who is in the room...... They know better than to approach me with life's imponderables when I am having chai.

Haha well it took me long time to start enjoying the strong chai without sugar.
Now even half a tea spoon of sugar added to chai (when being offered by others ) feels too sweet for my liking.

It is quite the opposite for a cuppa coffee though! I cant drink it without the perfect ratio of coffee decoction:sugar:milk . ☕

Coffee is life. Tea is lifeline. Cant live without either

:kissingheart: I secretly judge those who dont put any sugar in tea...
I tried and tried and always lapsed , hence the envy I guess :smash2:

Once at the office pantry, a white colleague saw me adding sugar to coffee and commented "S, you are such a sweet person, you dont need that much sugar" Like really , sugar shame me :-|
