    Dear friends,

How should I handle this bitter shopping experience? When I went for shopping in a big store(don't want to specify the store name) in the mall, an associate was SPYING me and my friend together, like she was keep following us when we took the coat for my DS and on the way to check out...We did spent some time for choosing the size, since there were only few on sale and to choose a right size...finally selected apant and one coat separately.....when one old lady was checking out and I was about to pay the spying lady interrupted and questioned the old associate. She herself started to checkout cancelling the previous one and said she can't checkout since the sale price is not showing up(a great lie) and called the manager and we waited for few minutes and asked her """Is this the price""" since the sale price was 4.97 for a 74$+ coat....The manager said "Yes,I tagged it this morning"...then the super spying lady checked out and said sorry for the confusion.....though I felt extremely bad,I couldn't ask her or talk to the manager at that moment since My toddler was hungry and cranky since the time was 1.30 pm...Now the thing is the coat doesn't fit for my DS....

I feel so so bad and feel like throwing the dresses on their face....I have different thought like whether I should talk to the store manager about this very bitter experience I had in their store...or I should return the dresses I bought...or I should leave this matter....or put a review online in their survey site...

To add to the spying,It happened like in the movie....she was following us and when we turned back, she'll stop there and act like she's arranging the clothes,handbags,etc:rant:rant....I couldn't take that moment out of my mind...bothering me what should I do...

    Hi,
If you feel apprehensive about talking to the store manager directly, do write a strong review online and send it to the correct department

Sometimes, they think otherwise of us (in a foreign country) and dont become a victim of such things. Do raise your voice appropriately and just let the thing go out of your mind

It's okay you can give the store name so that other's can be careful when they shop around,

here in USA, they treat customers as gods, you can even put that spying lady in trouble, you have every right to stand by your self. If I were you, I would first ask her what's your problem? you want us to shop here or what? or leave us we want privacy, or you can tell her on face that you are offended by her acts. If you can't take it out from your brain, go tomorrow and talk to their manager and tell them what you feel. but, next time you just ask anybody whats their problem?

Sorry to hear this happened. I remember the scene in 'Pretty Woman', where Julia Roberts is ill treated by a sales woman in a very hep shop just because of her looks and a day later, JR goes back to the shop dressed up in a beautiful attire, carrying a lot of shopping bags in her hand and tells the sales woman, 'you were the one who refused to wait on me yesterday, you work on commission right, big mistake, huge mistake' and walks out. What a slap :rotfl. YouTube - Pretty Woman : Big Mistake Hugh (Shop Scene)

It's their loss, not ours, if not this shop, there is always another with a better deal and better customer service :thumbsup

    hi,

right a strong review about the sales person in the survey. also in such a situation in the future ask the person directly if anything is wrong. just go and return the stuff and say that it doesn't fit your son (if it doesn't really).

Just so you know, this stuff happens to white people in USA also. We just confront and ask why are you following me and if the person is suspicious just say either arrest me or leave me alone. I think what the woman was suspicious of is tag switching (putting low tag on higher priced item). If the coat doesn't fit, just take the receipt and take it back. If you want to talk to the manager then do it. I think the direct approach is always better and is a good skill to learn.

    Hi,
Shopping experience should be a pleasant one..if not one should not shop in such places. You could have confronted that lady then and there itself.

I entered an online survey in their site with highly dissatisfied options and comments. Usually I'm not a person who avoids such situation and not worried about confronting...but that time(with hungry/cranky toddler) made me to walk out of the store ASAP....Few years back when my handbag was stolen with all majorcredit/debit cards/money/insurance cards,I found the person all by myself in a next store and handover to the cops and the case went till the court.....Thought of writing a blog too.:).....I agree as most of you said confront is the best one...

Thank you all for the response.
