I just checked the moderator's post reference. I have lived in the US for more than 30 years and I can tell you this: Bring nothing except the following:

1. your jewellery in your carryon.
2. your very favorite clothes
3. books and a few CDs that are precious to you

When you come here you are starting a 'new' life as well as starting off a 'new phase of life as a married woman. The major part of your subsequent journey is to integrate into the mainstream. As a first time immigrant the most important thing is to keep the precious part of our culture and to let the rest go. As for food/utensils/etc. you find everything here. However hard you may try to duplicate the very same taste, life, etc. it will never be the same. The very goal of coming here is to adapt. You will learn to duplicate your favorite dishes and if not, guess what? You just devised a new way of doing things!! Whatever money you spend shipping all these things is a waste. Instead, just bring things most precious to you and keep in mind the 50 pound limit on baggage.
