Homebound (Hindi, 2025, Netflix) story of two friends who dream of joining the police force to improve their financial situation and support their families. The story focuses on their friendship and how it evolves amid the struggles they face. It also touches on real-life issues such as the impact of the pandemic on migrant workers and the caste system, woven naturally into the narrative. The acting is excellent, especially Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa. Janhvi Kapoor has a smaller role. One cannot help but wish Sridevi were alive to see her daughter’s career flourish. Ishaan Khatter is the half-brother of Shahid Kapoor (their mom is Neelima Azeem). The film shows that being a nepo kid does not always stop someone from being talented. Great movie, with some lighter moments too, but overall a serious movie. Maybe don't watch it as a holiday movie. Added later: I read Mistt's review of the same movie only after posting this.
Zootopia 2. It starts off exactly at the same point where Zootopia 1 left off. What I loved about the movie? Old familiars like the slooooooooooow sloth were back, the message about coexisting of all creatures in harmony applies to us humans too and then theres Judy and Nick. A couple of frames had things happening that I couldnt understand but overall I liked Zootopia 2 even more than Zootopia 1. Recommend watching.
I tend to agree with your review. It is Walt Disney. Usually it is more humorous for kids. On the contrary here one finds there is a great deal of adult humour. In India it is yet to release in Chennai though there is news about its Tamil version ready. I think Mumbai walas Would already seeing it in Hindi .
Slow but engaging movie. First half is their individual struggles and their problems. But the second half is connected to the COVID, so I think this Homebound movie will be remembered with the pandemic related. When the mother cries on seeing the body of the offspring, it is touching because of the natural act of the mother in that role.
Aan paavam polladhadhu (tamil) - Enjoyed the movie for the trendy comedy. The story is about the compatability issues of Gen Z. The direction and the humor -both are too good ! Rio Raj did well as an actor ! I want to watch it again for the entertainment value.
Aaryan is a Tamil language thriller movie in which a dead man becomes a serial killer. But why does he do that? And how? This is what investigating police officer Nambi portrayed by Vishnu Vishal sets to uncover. While I liked the theme, suspense and 95% of the plot, the ending was very underwhelming. It almost seemed like makers wanted to give it some sense of logical conclusion and so concocted some twisted rationale. But I totally enjoyed watching the first 95% of the movie. Atleast for the 95% of the suspense, this movie gets 3 out of 5 stars from me
Aaryan (tamil) - Nice thriller with some new idea! How can a deadperson will kill in a planned plot? Watchable!
Kaantha (Tamil) - Loosely based on the bio of MK Thyagaraja bhagavathar. Dulquer done the role charmingly good ! Particularly I liked to watch a period movie (black and white / color). I heard about Kaantha kolai vazhakku, but don`t know the details. This one is engaging and the last quarter part is somewhat dragging. New heroine Bagyasri is nice looking. My take is the wrong judgement done by the hero depicted well. Watchable!
Thamma - this Ayushman Khurrana Rashmika Mandhana starrer promised high. Supposed to be a horror comedy flick its premise revolves around vampires with a surprise package of Varun Dhawan and Sathyaraj. While I am happy to see more movies coming up with indian folklores and mythologies based plots, this one cannot be called a horror at all.And even the comedy falls short. Rashmika is merely an eye candy. Ayushman is such a talented actor and I can understand that he must have chose this movie due to a different plot. The movie was a tad disappointing but despite that I commend the efforts by the makers to capture something Indian instead of the usual humdrum. Theres an item number by Malaika Arora also in this movie. No matter how much makeup she wears and no matter how glamorous the camera and outfits make her look, her sagging body gives away her real age. If you dont have any other good movie to watch, you can watch this with kids and old people alike for something that isnt horror at all and a mediocre comedy at most.
