    Hi Laxmi,
    Deepavali brings to mind ukkarai and wheat halwa. That is what my mother makes always. Mixer in savoury. These were made in large quantities. i remember that there used to be a large uruli ( a shallow heavy vessel of Kerala), which is kept on a old aduppu and mother sitting on a small stool and makign the halwa. it used to take nearly half a day or her to finish tht. Also another 2 days to make mixer, it had to be 2 or 3 tins of that. Ukkarai also in large quantity. We all used to take them to school the next day, Keralites do not have Deepavali celebrations.

    Forget all sorrows and enjoy the beautiful festival of lights.

    I love jamoon and mysorepak, i am missing my mom who always prepares these sweet on Diwali, far from everyone..missing their love. Too good to enjoy with family and friends. I will try out for my hubby..

    Oh there comes my favourite topic.My I really love sweets.Do not know which one to start with.My favourites are Jangri,hot jalebi,Gulab jamun,Badam halwa,Wheat halwa,Carrot halwa,Kasi halwa,Rasmalai,Rasgulla,Badshu,Poli, ............the list is endless.Savouries I like only a handful of spicy mixture with hot rasam rice.

    My favorite sweet is home made Athirasam and Acchu murukku and Kai murrukku,seedai and thattai.
    You get Athirasams in Saravana Bavan and Surya Sweets in Greenways road.

    I love sweets very much...homemade khir(payasam)to kaju barfi,laddu,badusha,rasgulla,rasmalai,bundi,hot jalebi,suji or carrot halwa....... etc etc etc ...list goes on

    hi all Ilites,

    Wish u all a very very happy & safe diwali..

    Coming to sweets,we generally get sweets from market & not make at home.
    But my fav sweets are malai sandwich(bengali sweet), kajukatli, jalebi, anjeer burfi, & gulab jamun..
