    Wow delicious thread!
I cant resist bhel puri, samosas and cutlet.
A good hot filter coffee or elaichi tea with the above would be awesome.
Another item that i love is the mini tiffin items that they serve in restaurants in India, a plate filled with masal dosa, pongal, upma, vada and a small serving of kesari! Yummm..

Oil fried appalams (papads). The plain urad dal kind. In the indian collective family it is usually rationed: Just one with the Rasam course of the meal. After i moved, got a job, and my own kitchen, i could fry ten, and have it with a mug of cold beer and watch movie or sports. [My recent posts on Daramji Deol reminded me of that famous beer commercial byline "why have just one?"] and made me think of fried appalams, & more than just one. My TV remote used to be wrapped in clingfilm so that it doesn't smell of coconut oil.

All are posting such fancy stuff... with that mixture/chivda I feel like the kid who brings a bland lunch to the school picnic. : ) Upping the food-weakness a little:

Kalakand (milk cake) - I can eat it any time of the day or night. Used to like the one sold by a sweet store and that my Uncle was in-charge of getting on his much awaited visits. But, kalakand's ingredients are so to die for that almost any production tastes great. I recently came across an easy recipe for making it with ricotta cheese and dry milk powder, but again, it tastes good if made by others.

In high-hispanic locations of USA, one could get "Pastel de tres leches" [ versions without the whipped cream on top would be close to that kalakand you describe]. P-de-T-leches is made from cream, condensed milk, and evaporated milk. Perhaps Costco may sell it too.

In middleclass southie girl-dekko events, there'd be a sweet (like kalakkand) and a savory (like Mixture), and coffee or chai. Chai is a safer bet, because everyone becomes a critic on the matter of coffee, and it is best to avoid unnecessary controversies in girl-dekko events.

Coffee: freshly grounds, French press, to begin the day.

My weakness is old style doughnuts, those are very similar to balooshahi, my favorite sweet growing up. My parents always made sure to buy balooshahi on my birthday.
