What is the real meaning of marriage?

I am thankful for this forum which I found today. I am passing through a stage which feels very hard for me. I need help. but I don't know how to ask here.

 

Share the responsibilities, happiness and sadness through out the life.

It looks like in days to come marriage may lose all meaning - real or otherwise. Also it may become obsolete and archaic if trends are anything to go by.

 

Not really , people all over the world still get married ! Few marriages work and few don't . To call it archaic or obsolete might be a bit of a overreaction .

 

I feel when we become young our parents grow old. They do not left with much of physical and mental ability to take care of us. That's why it becomes the turn of younger ones to take the responsibility. And to help them in doing that they get married and get a life partner.
Then starts the drama of ILS dil mil etc. Its the hype created that's not required.

 

Loving your spouse selflessly and unselfishly creates true love in marriage.

 

Marriage means where we can trust someone blindly, where we can give without expecting..where we are always loved.. a place of peace ..to achieve our goals, be parents , or whatever dreams both have...Selfless love creates a great marriage

 

Meaning of Marriage is to shape the new generation.(thats is the bottom line,love each other,selflessness,nuturing all ad-ons a spouse gets amid raising kids )

But it has changed and customized as per individuals. Like Carrie Bradshaw says "Take tradition and decorate in your own way!"
