    Be it the nightie dreaded by many or the admirable saree. May be there is some unique piece from another culture that impressed you.
    What according to you is the most useful piece of female clothing? How did it serve more than its specific purpose?

    May be I will learn a thing or two from you and put what I have to good use.

    I would say a cardigan.

    When I haven't waxed my underarms,all I need is to wear it on my tops and I am ready to go!

    Also,it protects me from slightly chilly weather without the need for a jacket..

    Also there are so many beautiful tank tops with good designs and I do not feel comfortable wearing it just the way it is.A cardigan helps me wear those tank tops plus I look elegant and comfortable!

    Cardigans by itself has many designs and varieties and is a very classy attire.

    Love cardigans!!

    This reminds me I have only few cardigans. Need to add more. Pairing it with tank tops is a great idea.

    That time I watched the prime minister of Bhutan talk about his country in a tedtalk, (Tshering Tobgay: This country isn't just carbon neutral -- it's carbon negative | TED Talk | TED.com) I learned about the traditional dress for Bhutanese women. A Kira, a long-ankle length dress usually paired with a Tego and a Wonju.
    The Kira is eco-friendly, hand-woven in vibrant colours and kind of resembles our sarees. The uses are many from storing day-to-day items in the inner pockets of the Wonju or tying he Kira as a baby wrap. I dream of owning one someday, but the thought of it lying around unused without serving its purpose would bother me!

    Mom's or grandma's saree used as thooli aka thottil aka cradle for a new born baby. Excellent in providing the feel of surrounding as a mother' womb.

    Bermuda shorts. If you can find the right fitting ones, they are a life saver. Look good and significantly reduce the area that needs waxing, shaving. Rather surprisingly, I find Walmart to have the most variety in fabric and style for these kind of shorts. Other places have mostly linen (poplin?) material or a cut that is too tapering. Once bought a pair of these from Walmart for $24 -- a princely sum for that store. : )

    In India right now...I think it is the Kurti.
    You can team it up with almost anything.
    Kurti with salwar/chudidar/pants/pallazos /shararas /long skirts /tights .

    Nothi beats a pair of jeans for me - most versatile, low maintenance, keeps cold away. On those rare warm days in my country, shorts and cut offs come in handy...
