Excellent topic started with vivid points by Chitra and well explained by Sri sir followed by various members.

It has highlighted many views and conclutions of this universal mystery.

Atma is the one where we see the world as one of auspicious and worshipful.
Atma is the sprit and peace it brings in.
Atma as the self, inner self and supreme self.
Atma is pure, noble, selfless sacrifices, one and non dual Brahman.
Atma is a teacher and shisya, it can show only the truth.
When we understand the 5 kosha's namely:
    Annamaya Kosha.
    Pranamaya Kosha
    Manomaya kosha
    Vignamaya kosha
    Anandamaya kosha
To reach the self " Atma "

    Dear Chithra,
The explanation of Atma by means of an example which was a very apt one for us to understand easily gives us a peek into its nature. I have been lagging behind in up-dating myself but I will catch up soon with your latest. Since the discussion on Atma is a heavy subject, I do not want to rush through it at one go. I do plan to take a print out of all your writings about the Gita for a more relaxed reading at my leisure.
    Regards,
    Malathi

    Dear Malathi,
    Thanks for joining us here.
You are right, do not rush through. The subject is such. But read regularly without long gaps, which is very important.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chitvish,

Sorry for joining late... Better be late than never... I am happy I didnt miss the bus...

That was a very great way of explaining Atma like electricity passing on electrical gadgets and suppliment from Sri that it reflects to the place or body it gets into....

This leads to lot of questions in my mind...... If Atma is so pure, why do we say nalla atma, ketta athma..... so lot of questions.....

First let me read the part 2 and ask for further clarifications.... as being a late comer...

    Dear Vysan,
Thanks for joining us here - never mind if you are late etc.
Atma is fully pure - it is purley our own "Akjnaana" interpretation like nalla atma, ketta atma etc. This is clearly answered by Cheeniya. Our mentioning these words only shows our "ariyaamai ".
    Atma is above all these.
    Regards,
    Chithra.
