That was a very nice post Mrs. Chitra. This hype of buying gold has started so recently and the banks are also following the treand of selling god. GOK why this? But I personally feel it is an excuse for people like me to nag the husbands to get something for the house or some ornaments or silver items for the future of daughters. ha ha ha.To be very frank I have done this and my husband has given me persmission to get something for my daughter. Pls note for my daughter and not for me.
Dear Chitra, That was very informative post! i too was wondering what was all the hungama about on Sun tv, with so many ads on jewellery( disgusting actually to see them all don soooo much of jewellery!) Like all have said, why dont they start advertising that it is good to go around donating money or gold etc.....:goodidea: , .......this rush to buy gold for oneself seems to selfish na! i too got carried away and was telling hubby that i should buy something., but then i realised my God , i too am getting brainwashed by these ads ! marketing techniques, well who can stop swaying with it! But good to read about the significance of the day.....will see what i can do here !
Dear Sudha, Thankyou for the F B. I think, from what you write, my post has been an eye-opener for you ! Otherwise, my Maduraikarar would have incurred a heavy expenditure, buying jewellery for you ! All said & done, we rescue eachother on time ! Love, Chithra.
Never ma'am.....he hates buying anything in gold and that was one of the promises i had to make even before i got married that i would not squander on meaningless gold jewellery! I would have been tempted to buy for daughter for which i am sure he will not say NO , but i think we dont have to do it today only....like u have said i can accumulate PUNYAMS also for her! Well am i not being a good madurai maatuponnu!:tongue
Dear Chitra, Another significant post. I'm not a jewellery kind so I don't reallly bother about this day but yes, I can surely help someone in need - I think that shld be the headline of this day, to lend a helping hand. Love,
Dear Sudha, Promised before marriage, not to squander on jewellery ? You are ideal Nareemani & we select such girls for DIL material ! Love, Chithra
Thanks Chitra , I must say I read all your posts but have been lazy not to post before.I agree with you completely on the charity. I wish the media did not commercialise things so much and taught the next generation something more useful like giving something to people and not always think of acquiring. As usaul your post was an eye opnener.I thought all this was futile as it was a media hype but did not know the significance of the day. Wouldnt it be great if every human treated every day as Akshaya Trithi and did at least one good act (an act of kindness... may not be material) but a kind word to someone , a smile , a helping hand. I wonder where such people are nowadays. Smita
Dear Meena, Welcome - I almost gave up on you, thinking that you had settled abroad, leaving me in the lurch !:icon_frown: ThankGod for small mercies !:tongue Thanks for the F B, Meena. Love, Chithra.
Dear Rajmi, I am sorry that I missed this post ! You said it right - this trend is very new & recent. Ofcourse, if you have plans to buy anyway, it is an ideal day to buy. But I can never approve of anybody buying just for the sake of buying, call it, the pleasure of buying ! Thankyou for joining us, Rajmi. Love, Chithra.
Dear Smita, Welcome to this forum. Yes, I wanted you all to know the real significance of A T & posted this. We should resoplve, not to fall a prey to the hype created by the media ! Please get over your laziness, for my pleasure & benefit, Smita ! Love, Chithra.
