@anika987 - we had this car that we drove in Bangalore. It came out of the garage brand new and got dinked by an auto. The more we fixed the dents the more dents she acquired. We accepted the car with her dents and scrapes and were so much better off for it. No point fixing each scrape because that’s Bangalore traffic for you.

I tell my DH that I’m like that car. He has to accept me with the dents and scrapes because there is no point of trying to do otherwise. If you fix one problem another arises to make me worry. I’m a work in progress and do need his constant reassurance. This post reminds me of that conversation.

    Thank you for sharing.

thank you madam . not trying to show off.

i had my share of growing up. my mom asked to me to watch couples who are successful and failure. sometimes we fight to win small daily emotional battles and loose in the end. her advise made me talk with my H and follow practices that are helping .

I saw couples who earned less me and my spouse together, worked together got multiple houses and travelled as much as possible in a memorable fun and according to their finances.

i am seeing my friends family got destroyed because of their stupid narcisstic spouses (not quoting the gender) , and now on the verge of divorce and both not able to handle their kids. even they were earning more than my family.

Madam makes me feel like the strict principal. Laks is good :)

Show off? I assure you that you aren’t showing off. I love your posts.

This is such good advice. I like how her idea of success and failure is tied to happiness and not material benefits. All of us, at any point in time, have a lot to learn from other people. It’s always good to emulate good qualities and ignore the undesired.

I like such examples. I have a couple around who are like this. Very content with what they have and always positive about life in general. I like meeting them. They just make people around them happy.

For DH I am the most important person in his life. He said this only a few times but has showed this countless times in his actions. It is hard to pick one thing.

But since this one happened recently.. and so it is fresh in mind. Last year after I came home (3rd day after delivery) with our second baby, he took care of night time feedings every single day. I got uninterrupted 6-6.5 hours of night time sleep and I wake up with full breast only to pump sveral ounces of breast milk. My recovery was at rocket speed and I was cooking right from the 3rd of delivery. We also had our older one to take care of and we managed by ourselves without any help. Thankfully our second one too like our older one has always been a good sleeper. By around 5-6 months, she was sleeping straight like 6 hours in the night.

I told him that I will take care at least once in a week or so but he did not let me. He said my body needs sleep. There is this song in Tamil movie Guna ‘Kanmani anbodu’. In this song there is a line roughly translated it means - whatever the injury is my body can bear it but your delicate body cannot :)
Even now when I think of this my heart melts. Writing here definitely helps. Next time when we have a bad fight I am going to come here and read this to remind myself to forgive him sooner

There is something to be said for the Dads who step up when babies come home. I can relate to this so much. Mine always woke up and stayed up so I could nurse and hand the baby back to him for diaper change and burping. I did have help both times though. I’m amazed at the amount of planning and execution it takes to bring baby home with nobody other than the hubby around. Especially with an older child to take care of. This is such a good memory. Thanks for sharing.

I know this song. I never thought about this line until you mentioned it. This is just so romantic and beautiful.

    Thank you for sharing.

My husband is a gem of a person but little short tempered. While I was working he used to help me in the kitchen ,take care of my children. I had Saturday Sunday off and he had Wednesdays. Only on some public holidays we used to be together . On Wednesdays he used to give oil bath to my children plat daughters hair
He used to leave home at 7 am and return by 4.30 PM. He used to bring my children to the station in the evenings when I come from office. They like the kalanda chadam which he makes.

He has helped me during my 3 deliveries. During Navratri my contract bus friends came home and he only prepared idli and kesari.

When I had hip bone fracture he took care of everything for one month. I was in bed a d could not move for two months

Now we are enjoying our retired life. I try to make different dishes. Morning a nd night I serve him a d later only I have. Afternoon lunch we gave together

Pray to God to keep us healthy and happy

This is such a sweet story! We also didn’t have any support- just two of us. I stayed at the hospital by myself after my daughter was born so my husband could stay with our son.

Although I exclusively breastfed during night and when I was with the kids, my husband took care of all the extra work- bathing, diaper changes, reading to the kids, meal prep etc.

He still cooks all the meals (official chef of the house). Other day he surprised me with homemade shahi paneer when he doesn’t even eat paneer.

That is a great quality. I cannot be like that, I do not want to hold grudge on anyone but I am not wired like that. Kudos to him.
