As a mother myself, I can only imagine what Ishwari might have faced when she delivered in the cab itself, while on the way to the hospital. Ofcourse, some might say childbirth is normal. But what are your thoughts on delivering in a cab? Ishwari was due to deliver on October 24, but her labour pains started off prematurely on October 2 itself. A resident of Pune, her in-laws called for an OLA cab to take her to the nearest hospital. The OLA driver Yashwant Galande arrived promptly at 8 am and understanding the grimness of the situation, wasted no time to transport Ishwari and two relatives to Kamla Nehru Hospital, Pune. Luckily, they managed to avoid the peak traffic rush which would have slowed them down. But could not avoid the bonny baby getting delivered in the back seat of the OLA Cab. Yashwant covered 12 kms from Kondhwa to Mangalwaar Peth area and is thrilled at this once in a lifetime experience he managed to unexpectedly face. The hospital had been alerted and a hospital team was waiting to receive the mother and child. The umbilical cord was cut and they got promptly admitted. Luckily all’s well that ends well and both have been discharged from the hospital now. In keeping with tradition and policies shared by the travel industry, OLA has offered free Cab rides for a period of five years. There is a special coupon that has been launched by the ride hailing company which entitles them to this free cab ride gift.
