What colors were on your plate today?

    Everyone's fb is motivating me a lot, because I tend to omit certain fruits and this reminds me to add them now and then.

    You are welcome.I have seen vegetable and fruits in varying colors in whole foods for eg. I have seen orange and yellow beetroot there.

    My colorful spread today

    white: Bananas
    green: lettuce, green olives,avocado salad for lunch
    red: Heirloom tomato salad, dill shal (CV) and red radish kurma cooked with its leaves as a side dish for chapatis.

    Brown : Muesli & Nuts, Multi grain roti

    White : Cucumber, Milk & Curd

    Green : Spinach & Gongura

    Purple : Brinjal

    Brown:Flax & Grain bread, soaked almonds, chana dal(is it brown?)
    Green:Lettuce
    Red:Tomatoes
    White:Rice & banana
    Blue/purple:Raisins & prunes(dried)
    Yellow:Dried Apricot & sugar free apricot preservatives, baked sweet potatoes

    Letz add add channa dhal to Yellow (hope you dont mind :wink:)...Coz me too left out dried peas(off-white/dull yellow shade) in my previous posting..Letz combine add them to yellow category :cheers

    Really motivating to see everyone's combinations of fruits and vegs.:thumbsup

    Yesterday's colors:

    Brown: Dates, bread
    Red: Apple, strawberry
    White: Milk, curd
    Green: Spinach (keerai) kootu, broad beans (avarakkai) curry, guava
    Yellow: Lemon rasam (I am not sure if this is to be listed here, but did cos the rasam was yellow in color and had tuvar dal too)
    Purple: Plums

    I also had a cup of avial made from carrot, beans, broad beans, yam (chenai), raw plantain (vazhakkai), green peas, drum stick, potato, brinjal and white pumpkin (vella pooshnikkai).:)

    Mine is always multi-colored. I'll have lots of vegetables in my diet.

    Cindhuja, yup that is sure yellow..(my brain is color blind..hehe)..I shall add it yellow next time...

    Usha, I woula like to try your salad.I liked the dressing...never tried fennel though I have been thinking about it..

    hat's color plate has avial...there is no other curry that is as nutritious as avial in a single dish..it's been a month since I ate avial..
