Rice is always a life saver in such situations. It cooks fast and everyone likes to eat too. I will make a delicious dal khichdi, will fry papad and keep onion and pickle along with curd as a side dish. I am sure adult and a kid will enjoy this and can fulfill their stomach too.

    Vietnamese Noodle Soup

    beef, chicken, or vegetable stock
3 pcs cloves, 3 pcs star anise, 2 pcs cinnamon stick
    leftover meat or firm tofu
    rice noodles

    optional garnishing
bean sprouts, chopped green onions, coriander leaves

    Korean Seaweed Soup

    beef, chicken, or vegetable stock
    1 pc of dried anchovy
shredded roasted seaweed (or get the one for sushi ad tear it apart)
small amount of toasted sesame oil

optional: leftover meat, firm tofu, dried noodle slice

These two soups can also easily be done in the microwave. My 8 year old regularly makes the seaweed soup in a mug.

I have a 1.5 year old daughter and I love to make stuff for her and most of the the things that I make are mostly instantly, because she never leaves me to plan anything :)
So here is my list of instant stuff.

    1 - Oats + Milk + caramel sauce
2- fine chopped fruits mixed in fruit cream
    3- wholewheat muffins in microwave
