Take 6 bread slices.Cut the four corners of the bread and deep fry only these in hot oil. Break into small pieces and put in a bowl.To this add crushed chips(any flavour),grated carrots 1/2 cup, roasted peanuts, finely diced cucumber minced 2 tablsp coriander leaves, salt, pepper powder. Mix well.Serve as a jhatpat snack. This jhatpat snack is yummy
We always have carrots and onions at home. Slice onions, grate carrots, mix with masala pori(puffed rice), sprinkle chat masala and garnish with coriander leaves. Fatafat chaat is ready. For a heavier tiffin mix powdered oats, rice flour, gram flour. Add salt, cut chillies, grated carrots and sliced onions. Add required salt. Make oothappams. Serve with tomato chutney/sauce/good old chilli powder.
Dosa. Sooji halwa, sooji upma. Daliya porridge, daliya upma (I have bulgur at home; cooks quickly). Ragi porridge. Oats porridge. Methi thepla - made dough earlier today. Garlic naan and chapati from frozen, with pickle and yogurt or dal tadka. Only problem - dal has to thaw. I always keep a container of cooked dal in the freezer. I don't have a microwave. Sourdough rye crackers with cheddar cheese or havarti cheese, served alongside grape tomatoes. Beanitos. "Ice cream" with milk and frozen fruit. Milkshake with banana and/or peanut butter and/or frozen fruit and/or chocolate chips. Nuts - pistachio, cashew, almonds. Dried fruits - dried cranberries. Poha with hot milk and sucanat. 3 different cereals with cold milk (or warm if preferred). Larabars. I can whip up no-cook macaroons with almond flour as the main ingredient, pretty quickly too. It can be eaten as is but I normally roll them out and freeze them before eating. I mean, serving ;-). Papad topped with cut tomatoes and onions. If child can handle spice, half a green chilli too. Salt, lemon juice drizzled on top. Plaintain bajji. I prefer to use ragi flour. But I have besan too. Onion pakodas. Mmmmm, I haven't introduced my toddler to half these combinations. Yumm. Although she'll think it is sacrilege to eat papad with anything but her green and brown chutneys, a la restaurant d'Inde.
I take that back. She has eaten most of these. I have mercilessly inflicted her with all kinds of food, it seems .
