Today we worship amman in the form of Mahishasura Mardini and offer chakkara pongal(sweet pongal) as naivedyam.

    Recipe:
    1cup Rice
    1/2 cup Moong Dal
    5-6 tsp Ghee
    1/4 cup Dry Coconut slice
    Cashew nuts, Cardamom
    1 and 1/2 cup Jaggery & Sugar

    Process:
    1. Lightly fry Rice and Moong Dal in little amount of Ghee
    2. Add 4 cups of water and cook the Rice and Moong Dal in a cooker for two whistles.
    3. Add Jaggery, Sugar and Cardamom powder to the cooked rice & moong dal
    4. Keep in low flame and stir well until all ingredients are mixed
    5. Fry the cashew nuts and dry coconut in ghee and add to the above preparation along with ghee and mix well

Thank you for tagging me @magee. It was a surprise to see my name in food section. We are not preparing anything special this year. Just the regular Tamarind rice, Sooji halwa. I was inspired by the recipes shared here and tried an instant chutney. It was an experiment with ingredients I never thought would go together. So, I didn't click any photos as I was not sure whether it would be a success or failure. I was amazed to see that everyone liked it. Here I am sharing the recipe. Please do try and let me your feedback.

It is a green mango black olives chutney.

Take a small green mango. Peel the skin and cut it into pieces. Take the olives and cut them. Put these two into the grinder along with green chillies, jaggery and salt. Grind them into fine paste. Chutney is ready. (I was in a mood to eat something sweet so I added jaggery.)
