You can carry mixie, pressure cooker, few vessels ( may light weight and flat base), few bead spreads, warm clothes, masala powders, tamrind, though you get these in Indian Grocery stores but till you settle down it is better you get these.

@ home we have idli or dosas often..i took my preethi mixi..used to grind batter in it..but sure it is a slow process ..at a stretch you cant grind ..since the machine gets hot..hope you understand..

if you have enough space take a grinder..else manage with a mixie..especially for grinding spices(pepper,cumin etc) and making chutneys,spreads you need the mixi

Since you are just 2 a small cooker is enough..go and get an electric rice cooker in the new place..thatz very common in US and it is cheap too..we can make pulaos,briyanis too out of it..i am using it since 6-7 years..

dont spend on electrical items ..as the volts might differ..better you go and get there a cheaper one..example..iron box,shaver

if you wear a specs get 1 or 2 spare too..coz they are costly and few are avilable only with prescription.

take all your medical reports,certificates

pack a set of basic medicines..for cough,head-ache,fever and so on..

dont spend much on jackets..get one costly and worthy jacket(sure from a branded store)..if you go there you can fetch for daily uses @ a cheaper rate..not only the cost but the weight also increases if you carry all these.

stock enough of coffee powders..they are very much available in US still it is cheaper here.

Get few masal packets and routine spices..

regarding groceries dont worry you'll get everything which you find here..just with a mild cost difference..
