    My late bosom friend told me to avoid eating banana fruit when hunger has peaked. He said it would cause bloated stomach and generate gas. Mom said fruits any type should be consumed half an hour before food .
    My Bengali friend Banerjee suggeated to eat banana only in the morning when it is equivalent to eating gold dust. Lunch time he told it turns silver and night it is as good as brass.

    This makes a lot of sense.
    I am addicted to banana. That's my comfort food and easily available in all the places.
    Most of the times, the small bananas are my snacks, and sometimes they are my main food too. And there are days I woke up during mid night with hunger pranks and have 1-2 small bananas.
    Since they are small, and fresh from garden (most of the times), I never count their calories or harmful chemicals in them.
    But today, after reading your post, I could relate where my bloating coming from?
    Most days I feel bloated, and I blame different gassy foods and tend to avoid them. But here we go.. the culprit is my favourite banana.

    Oh thanks for this information sir. Never knew banana would cause gas and bloating. I am currently dealing with several bloating which looks like 9 months pregnant tummy. Been taking medicines for that and have to go for endoscopy. Bloating is the only major concern with other symptoms.
    I take banana every night after my dinner. Been doing that for a long time. Not sure if that could be the reason for my bloating.

    I have been following the diet , time control and portion control. Somehow used to this new routine.
    Breakfast
    Egg and avocado toast
    Snack- fruit bowl with few seeds
    Lunch - one cup rice, yogurt and fish fry
    Dinner -millet avocado chapati and rajma curry
    Water -1.5 litres

    Further research into banana as fruit lead to believe certain types are to be avoided like the one yellow long Morris. It is hybrid and probably GT product.

    There are over 12 varities of which only few cause weight addition like the monathan and Rasthali. Raw Monthan bansna is preferred for making chips and poriyal.
    I find half ripe banana like the mala pahzham, red banana and nenthra palam are more nutritious though bit expensive.

    Half ripe nenthra palan good for making chips.
    The green one is better to avoid if people having cold body and prone to cold and suffering from asthma and wheezing.

    Tamil section of google produce more facts .

    I find fruit lovers in payazh muddier cholai pick up first red banana and elakhi varities and fast moving compared to other cheap varities like the green one and Morris.

    A senior lady in her 80s when asked in the fruits shop, she said she preferred to pick up always the one that is slender and bit curved red and elakhi and also said never to eat any after sunset. Instead of juice have a bite masticate and swallow!

    India is largest exporter of banana.

    The bunched up edge if covered air tight with aluminium foil and refrigerated, bananas shelf life can be increased by few more days avers owner of huge banana plantation in outskirts of Chennai.

    In #136 it is BT NOT GT. BT stands for biotech relating to seeds genetically modified that herald a revolution in agriculture in nation of starving population.

    I didn't update the last few days. I was feeling sick with ear and throat infection. But I tried to keep up the routine as much as possible. Didn't do any exercises, just focused on the diet.
    I hope you guys are keeping up with your routine and goals. Update here when you get time.
    Breakfast
    Multi grain bread(2) with avocado spread
    Snacks
    Apple smoothie with almond milk, no sugar
    Lunch
    1 cup Rice,1 fish fry (air fry), yogurt
    Dinner
    2 Millet dosa , radish chutney

    Happy Diwali everyone!!
    Hope everyone is good and following their routine as much as possible.

    I am following strict portion control and exercises. Focusing on my bloating issues now. I had an endoscopy 3 days ago and Dr said she didn't find any ulcers or anything. Did a biopsy and waiting for the results.

    So I have to change my diet as Dr suggested and see if this bloating reduces.

    I keep tracking my weight and hoping I will reach my target in time.

    Skipped last few weeks to update here.
    So starting back from today.

    Breakfast
    One bread and one avocado
    Snack -One banana
    Lunch - rice , veg stir fry and yogurt
    Snack - milk one cup and hoen made cookies
    Dinner- wheat dosa(2) and peanut chutney

    Water - 2 litres
    Exercise - LW one hour
