Weekend break near Houston

Hope you got to make a trip that weekend!

Just in case if you are still looking for info on weekend trip from and near Houston, first bet should be to San Antonio. You can very well spend a day and a half with good restaurants to dine in at the River-walk place.

Second choice could be S.Padre Island. It is a small and pretty island with a nice beach (green water, brown sand) and lot of fun activities like para sailing, snorkeling, horse back riding, basic surf lessons, stroll thro' surf shops, small and nice restaurants, etc. But it is more fun and crowded in Spring break. Not advisable to go during winter because of the cold winds and most places closed.

Galveston beach should be the last choice, though it is closer from Houston than S.Padre Island. But the beach isn't nice anymore, mostly has seaweed and it stinks badly. However, if the water clears up it is green water and you can go dolphin watching.
