    nIce post!
    From my side: I usually,
Put off all the lights and fans, computers and also the night bulbs, when not in use.
Use the blank side of the papers children bring from school as flyers for, either working math problems or jotting down the list of things we need to buy from the store, the coming week.
Use cold water during the summer season and in winter, use the hot water and close it first, after each use.
Use the dishwasher once a week and put on the energy saver cycle.
dry the clothes outside during the summer not in the dryer.
don't open the water tap to its full extent to get the water. Half-way opening does the same work. (we need patience too)
In the clothes washer, use cold-cold cycle. this is as effective as the hot-cold cycle.
also encourage my children to do so.

    hello

wow a nice call to save planet earth
    but is anybody listening?
we poor ladies do what we can
    save electricity water..etc
    but what about huge
    tree cuts
    industries that manufacture
items we want only as luxury?
    sell fertilsers pesticides
    'when they know fully well
    we can do very well
    with natural pesticides
    vermicompost..and drip irrigation?
    rotational cropping pattern
    to improve soil structure..
we are on a fast roller coaster ride
and will be difficult to jump off it
even if the jump can save us
    from extinction..!

    Hello Satya,
    I understand your concern.
It is very much true that what ever we do it at home is not sufficient, we should do at large in the industries.
But atleast we can give a try from our side and do as much as possible.
It is not going to help if we blame each other and dont do our part of job.
Seeing eaching other, people will change their attitude and sure we can do much more. Just keep the spirits high.

    Thanks,
    Punitha

    Hi,

    A good thread.

We have circulated a mail in our organisation too requesting all to switch off their comps when they leave for the day. To use less paper...not to take printouts unnecessarily etc etc.

at home how much ever we try the domestic helps use the water in a manner as if the whole ocean belongs to them. It is really heart wrenching to see this.

I have seen even the educated lot doing the same. In offices it is very difficult to tackle them. We really have to pamper their ego to get the right things done.

    Roopa.
