    Hi Amy
I'm definitely looking fwd to going to Madras. My first trip with my princess. A little anxious about the looooooooong flight. Its been a while since I was last in madras. I miss good old saravana bhavan....don't know other new restaurants that are good. Hopefully I'll be able to check out a few.

Wow thats great ! Am sure its going to be full of joy !
Hmm, Nothing as good as Saravana Bhavan yet where it gives the authentic feel. Heard that there is a Ganesh Bhavan close by in MI. May be in Farmington or somwhere not sure. I heard that its good. Need to try it out once. :)

    hello Vrao,Amywos,welcome.
me too a Michigander for the past 4 years.I am in Dearborn which is close to Detroit.Ganesh Bhavan is a good restaurant but its been while since I visited that place. When they first started ,I really liked the food. Now I hear that its become so..so.Ashoka is again a good one in Canton and its been there for a while. In Farmington hills there is Priya and then there is Ruchi(I think its in Southfield) .Both are good.
By now i think you must have tried some. Please share your feedback.
I too have a connection with Madras(Chennai) as I worked there there for a while and I miss Saravana Bhavan.I would get my breakfast from there when I was in the morning shift during my good old working days.I loved their carrot juice.

    Hiiiiii Riditi,

So wonderful getting to know more people staying around same area. :) As told, I am from Troy. Just a couple of weeks since I landed here so am yet to try those Indian restaurants. Heard about Asoka, one of my husband's fav here.
Ha ha ha carrot juice from Saravana Bhavan huh? I havent tried from there but carrot juice is always one of my favourties too :)
And hey, for grocery's I usually try Patel brothers, but last week for a change I went to the Sabzi Mandi in Troy, I should say it was good :) I was able to get some veggies relatively fresh, which I could not get in Patel for couple of weeks. Am planning to try it this time too. Let me see.

Anusuya, Welcome to Michigan & to the thread. Looks like we have a few Troy folks here. I am not too far either.... I live in Waterford, near the Parashakthi temple. Since you guys are new to MI, beware of the winter. I'm sure you've heard from people...its true, and take them seriously :)
but in the meantime, enjoy the fall colors!

Vrao, You are absolutely true. Many people warn us about the winter. Last winter I was in Minneapolis on an official assignment. Worst time to be in USA especially in MN :) I hear people say MI is as bad as MN.
