    Hi All

yes lifestyle change is a great way rather going fad diet dearies ...

One of friend invited me to join her lemon detox diet which I strongly refused and she went on diet for 15 days guess what she lost 6.5kgs in 15 days OMG ..... yes omg.... but after a month she said she put on 3 kgs back even when she made clean lifestyle change I would lose 2.5 kg in a month by changing my lifestyle rather than starvation and killing myself ..BIG NO FOR FAD DIET for me ..... its not worth it short term goals great but if you just eat one celebration meal you kill your digestive system ....

Slow and steady way of changing lifestyle is great of weight loss and maintain them in long term .... yes these fad diet can make you lose weight fast but once you are out of it guess what doubles it and you need to do your hardwork one more time ....

always stick with your lifestyle change rather than sudden change in diet system ...detox ,fad ,low fat, dukan ,south beach diet all crap ... do you girls agree ? if you don't who has done fad diet during weight loss ... Not me for sure because I am a food lover but during this weight loss journey I have learnt to change my lifestyle by introducing more veggies ,fruits and less carb ... I still enjoy my buffet parties in a month and iam steadily losing weight .... small healthy swap will make loads of difference . I have listed swap items :

I agree. Eat healthy and in moderation. I really have never really eliminated anything from my diet but just cut back on desserts and such.

Fat in diet is really a good thing and by that I mean the good fat like avocadoes or nuts or extra virgin olive or coconut oil. I do want to add that yogurt is really good for you- I use the whole milk regular and greek plain yogurt.

I don't drink soda or alcohol or even fruit juices much and prefer smoothies.

I never was a soda or alcohol person:) Occasionally I feel like a sip or two of soda but I could never finish even the small can.

    Swaps:

Oats, quinoa or moong daal dosa's or adai or uttapam. I love the traditional rice version but others are quicker.

I make almond or cashew milk in my vitamix as I like the taste better than store bought. Same with nut butters - helps cut back on preservatives and sugar.

Cook only with extra virgin coconut or olive oil

Cut back on white rice and use brown basmati rice.

Don't like pre-packaged/ prepared foods. Whole foods- lots of fruits and veggies.

I did only one thing - completely took away the three/four spoons of sugar in my coffee. I initially swapped with a spoon of brown sugar but didn't like it at all. I just stopped using refined sugar. Coffee without sugar is my thing these days.

I swapped canola oil with olive and virgin coconut oil.
Swapped desserts with mixed berries and yogurt(I use full fat Greek or 2%greek).
Swapped 4 cups of coffee with water. I now drink only two cups a day instead of six.
Swapped white rice with Matta rice/quinoa/brown rice/roti etc.
swapped pastas with whole grain ones.
Swapped Special K protein shake breakfast with actual breakfast (home made overnight muesli, bobs red mill cereals or adai/idli etc). This was the best thing I did for myself.
