    Dear Satchi

Excellent post and you have nicely narrated about vishu and the vishu kani we get, in younger days we used to wait to get the vishu kani. You have arranged vishu kani also very nicely.

In Mumbai in Guruvayurappan temple they keep vishu kani and every year we go and they also give vishu kani nottam. This year we missed it.

Belated Birthday wishes to your dh. May God bless him with good health and hope all his wishes are fulfilled this year.

Good one, Satchi. I love the way you described Chakka Prathaman, wicked and delicious. I have had the privilege of tasting this dish several times.

There is some inherent richness about anything connected to Kerala. Perhaps that's because it's God's own country.

You invited us home to witness the traditional authentic Vishu.

I wish you and yours a very happy new year.
My special wishes to your husband. And I am welcoming him into the Fifties Club, with both hands open.

    Satchi,
As usual, so far this post did not catch my sight as I am blind to those what I am not intending looking for.

This morning it just caught my eyes in the list of your signature. You brought me back the memories of my childhood days when I used to stay with my parents.

The nice thing is, may be the dishes and the way the Puja is done are different, but the spirit and the overall essence of this celebration is same through out the country. Like arranging the Puja place, taking ashirvadam from the elders, token gift and the delicacies.

Thanks for enlivening my sweet memories though this wonderful blog!

Beautiful kani! I hope you have come out of the bliss of chakka payasam :). You are absolutely right...vishukaineetam is something we all used to look forward to during young days. In fact we used to demand as well! And the best is the kaineetam from our grandmothers because they used to be verrry generous with the amount. I hope you had a great Vishu with family and friends celebrating the festival and the birthday.
