Thanks ,Kiran. In my childhood days,I hate ven pongal. My mother would force me to eat and for every mouthful of pongal she will keep a cashew .Paatti will make sure that there is a substitute for ven pongal .That is Sakkarai pongal. On Margazhi month ,almost once in three days,we wake up smelling pongal. At that time, the smell itself was annoying. After marriage,I came to know that DH loves Pongal.MIL creates a big scene while cooking pongal and she would surely empty 1/4 Kg ghee and a packet full of cashew. Even then, the pongal would be sumaar. Now,I have started liking it and pongal has become one of my favourites. Now,DS runs away at the sight of pongal.I am following the same tactics-one cashew per mouthful of pongal. Hmmm..life is a cycle.
The mystery solved. Always, wondered about how the temple pongal is at right consistency. I made it according to the recipe, it came out to be perfect. With the little Ghee, it turned out to be so much flavourful (hehehe , in the past the more Ghee added, it used to become more solid). My hubby was wondering, what happened to my 'rocky' edition? :rotfl Thanks Kishoremommy for sharing the recipe.
