    Some of the iron rich foods

    Ragi dosa with Drumstick leaves
    Dates and honey
    Fig (either fresh or dried)
    Beetroot
    Jaggery
    Legumes.

    Hi, I had iron deficiency too..

    Leafy greens and other good vegetarian sources of iron contain 'non-haem' iron which is less absorb-able by our body. So even if the food contains a lot of iron in theory, your body may not be able to absorb it.

    To increase absorption we have to combine vegetarian iron rich foods (leafy greens,etc) with foods that have Vitamin C... this will make the 'non-haem' iron be absorbed better by your body.
