hello Chitra mam i am a pure vegetarian woman. one of my friend has challenged me that vegetarian people can not enjoy the yumminess of butter chicken or chili chicken. Is that true? I know you must have something for me in your treasure Can you plz tell me the vegetarian version of those dishes so that I can invite her to enjoy the taste of vegetarian version of butter chicken or chilli chicken. Mushrooms are full of protein with no fat and tastes just like chicken.You can try chilli mushroom or mushroom 65 or mushroom manchuria.Look for chicken 65/chilli chicken recipes in vahchefs youtube channel and try them using button mushrooms. You can also find some of the north indian recipes like mushroom peas masala, kadai mushroom on the internet. Here are some of the recipes.. Chilli mushrooms Fresh red chillies - 100 gms, old oil-100 ml, ginger-garlic paste -1 tbsp, onion (chopped fine) - 50 gms mushroom - 200 gms, cornflour 1 tbsp, flour - 2 tbsp, baking powder - a pinch, oil 10 drops, soya sauce -1 tsp, tomato ketchup - 1 tbsp, salt/pepper to taste, Ajinomoto - a pinch. First make a basic chilly sauce by grinding the chillies to a fine paste. Heat the old oil to a smoking point and sear the paste and mix till all the chillies have been seared. Set aside and leave to cool. Make a batter using the 2 tbsp flour, 1 tbsp cornflour, baking powder and a little water to make a coating batter. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper onto the washed and dried mushroom. Mix in the batter and deep fry them in medium hot oil, till golden brown. Set aside. In a separate pan, add a little oil and sauté the ginger-garlic paste, chopped onions and add 2 tbsp of chilli sauce and sauté well. Add 150 ml water and bring to a boil, add the soya sauce and tomato ketchup. Thicken with 1 tbsp of cornflour dissolved in water. Add the fried mushroom in gently and serve immediately. To make mushroom 65 the following recipe is used Ingredients: Button mushrooms - 250gms; ginger-garlic paste - 10g; egg - 1; cornflour - 25g; maida- 25g; curd - 50g; red chilli powder - 1 ½ tbsp; red colour - 3 drops; salt to taste; oil for frying; curry leaves - 25 nos; green chillies (spilt) - 6. Method: Cut mushrooms into halves. Marinate them with ginger-garlic paste, egg, cornflour, maida and a few drops of colour. Deep Fry mushrooms in hot oil and keep aside. Mix curd, red chilli powder, salt and red colour. Put little oil in pan. Sauté split green chillies and curry leaves. To this add curd mixture and continue cooking for two minutes. To this add fried mushroom and toss till dry. Serve mushroom hot garnished with chopped coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
