Ganga Mahotsav is a tourism festival that is conducted in Varanasi to celebrate the deathless spirit of the river Ganga. Hundreds of Hindu devotees and foreign tourists participate in this annual four-day featival. Ganga Mahotsav provides a glimpse of Varanasi’s art, culture and traditions and hence attracts a large number of tourists. A number of cultural programs are organized as a part of the festival. The major attraction of the Ganga Mahotsav festival is at dusk when the devotees float hundreds of lamps on lotus leaves in the river. Hello Shalini I haven't witnessed Ganga Mahotsav but my family and I were in Varanasi in December (we are from South Africa) and we did go on the Ganges by boat and offered prayers to our ancestors. Regards Neesha
