For quite sometime there have been discussions about uninvited guests initiated by Shri Viswa

We look around the world, or watch and read the news, practically almost all the nations are affected by some kind of natural disaster. Floods are displacing millions of people, forest fires are destroying thousands of acres, earthquakes continue to force people to live in fear, and tornadoes and hurricanes have become more fierce and numerous than ever.

It is paining to see thousands of people losing precious lives,or parts of the body or being left homeless. While a few that have escaped are grateful to God for having blessed with narrow escape, persons affected heap curses on the same god. The same word PROVIDENCE( which is defined in dictionary as foresight and benevolent care of God) is used both by survivors and victims.

If God is really good, why he makes thousands suffer ? Is He seeing tamaasha when lakhs suffer? If it is the bad karma, what makes different people from different parts of the world with same bad kaarmic effects get assembled in the place of disaster only to meet their end?

People who read the news from the news papers may simply comment" It is Destiny.Yama has dragged them there. All are kaarmic influences" and so on.

One can give long lectures on God, Destiny. Free Will and Karma .But the victims can never be convinced of the transcient nature of the world, the indestructible soul and so on.

For them God becomes a tyrant interested in seeing them suffer.Very often it is said that people make their own destiny. This cannot be justified when thousands get caught under volcano, earth quakes, floods etc. What is their fault?

For a "rational" man to conclude that God is harsh giving evils like drought, floods, earthquakes, volcanos, hurricanes, landslides, etc., is irrationality at its worst.
The concept of God is the creation of Man, not God's creation. After investing Him with super powers, omnipotence, omni presence, omniscience, Man does not hesitate to blame Him for what happens in Nature which does not suit the Man! Thus a theist acts irrationally and worse than an atheist. He thus becomes an amusing hypocrite, for man still goes to his God with prayers every day, even after experiencing very unbearable "disasters" ; they are "disasters" for man because he finds them unbearable but does not accept them as inevitable phenomena of natural unwritten laws.

Natural Disasters that appear to have been created by God,the omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent?

Can't He stop all these things and create a disaster free world? No,say the scientists.

    What the scientists say
    --------------------------------

The physical world is subject to a number of laws that govern its operation. There are four fundamental forces of physics that operate in our universe:Strong nuclear force, weal nuclear force, gravitational force and electro magnetic force.
These laws are absolutely essential for the proper operation of the universe as it exists. Without these fundamental laws ,,the universe would consist solely of charged and uncharged particles and random forms of electromagnetic energy floating through space.

The reason for the existence of earthquakes is that the earth's continental crusts are floating on the earth's molten mantel. Since the continents are floating, the plates that make up the continents tend to dash against one another , causing the plates to shake. It is revealed that a molten interior of the earth is absolutely essential to the existence of life. The independent rotation of the molten interior of the earth results in a magnetic dynamo that produces a charged field (magnetosphere)around the earth. This magnetic field acts like protective cover or radiation shield, which protects the Earth from radiation bombardment. If this shield were not present, life would not be possible on the Earth. All the creatures would die of radiation.

It is neither possible to create a world without radiation, the heat and light being the essential sources of human existence.

If there are mountains there will be landslides. There is no natural process by which the earth is all flat. Then we would have to deal with huge problems relating to water cycle .This would result in greater evils than putting up with a few landslides every year.

Most people think that floods are evil and have no redeeming properties. The flooding brings much needed silt and minerals to the surrounding land, making it more fertile. If no dams had been built, the natural floods would have created a fertilizer free atmosphere.

Most non-scientists probably think there are no redeeming qualities to lightning strikes. However, the high energy electrical discharge results in the splitting of molecular nitrogen and oxygen, When these atoms recombine, they form nitric oxide, which is delivered to plants in the rain.

All the laws of physics are associated with natural evils.

This universe was not designed to provide an eternal, perfect place for humans to live in. It is perfectly designed to give human beings the optimal conditions under which choice between good and evil can be made. It may not be possible to create Universe without applying Laws of Thermodynamics, otherwise there would be no stars,no light and no heat-no cooking, no food,no metabolism--That is no human beings can reside here.

The scientists view that all natural disasters embedded ,represent the design of an intelligent creator..Even the warning systems devised by men can only minimise the loss of lives to the maximum extent but not resist the disaster on set.

    Coming to the philosophical side,
    ----------------------------------------

That is a law of nature, and however cruel it may seem to be, in this world that is how balance is maintained in many cases so that certain species do not overpopulate. In this and so many other ways, nature acts in a way to help maintain balance in this world.

So when natural disasters hit humanity, it forces us to become more clear regarding the temporary nature of this world. Loss is no easy thing in one’s life, This is a way of mentally preparing the people in stages for the unavoidable evil in stages.. We need to be ready to go forward into the next realm rather than being held back by all the longings we have for the attachments we have accrued in this life. Slowly directing humanity towards the real goal of life.

    The psychological and sociological angle
    -----------------------------------------------

There is some good in any situation, regardless of how awful it may seem. Sometimes we can see tremendous changes in the lives of the psyche of innumerable people in the world that may have been affected by whatever event has happened, .There arises a special drive to meet the new challenge that they have to face. In this way, there is hope for a new vision, a new awareness, a new spirit of cooperation and view of each other.

For example, when a tornado destroys a neighborhood or town, everyone has to drop their ego and their differences in order to work together to make things operate smoothly again. So many trees may have been blown over, dropping electrical lines and stopping the flow of power or communication. Then people must work together to help clean up, get things working again, or check on the elderly to see if they are all right. The bond of love is apparent.

In this way, the tragedy itself, makes us more humble, more cooperative, and a kinder person. It makes us realize our vulnerability, both individually and collectively. It makes us realize how fragile life can be, and how we should also appreciate whatever blessings we have. It forces a self assessment of who we are and, and who we should be..
. Do we merely have to change our vision and the values that we have to again begin to move in the right direction?

Is this article written from an airy hall in early cool hours capable of giving any relief to the victims? Will the dry philosophy restore normalcy in their lives? Will it wipe the tears of those who have lost the near and dear?Questions-questions everywhere-not a satisfactory answer

Can we prevent "disasters"? No, as the scientists say. Can God prevent them? No says, even all the atheists. Then why blame your God?
When the same God provides you umpteen comforts, food, life, shelter, health, strength, etc., one seldom thinks of or thanks Him. You take them for granted, but one does not take "disasters" as granted!
Man should learn to get on with life, whatever happens. There lies wisdom. There lies bliss.

The cries from west has been heard in full and here goes the in-depth analysis.
I enjoyed reading every word here. Great intellectual effort and patience gone into this write-up.

So disasters and Act of God are natural process pre designed to balance the world and efforts can never be made to eliminate except to mitigate.

I doff my hat in the direction of the author @jayasala42 for this brilliant magnum opus.

    Regards.

    God Bless

You are 100 per cent correct in saying that mn created ther idea of an omnipotent, omni present and omniscient God. Natural disasters are anything but natural nowadays, due to global warming and other climate change phenomena caused by our turning a blind eye to degradation of nature cused by our overexploitation and greed. I remember there was a time rainfall used to be measured in millimeters and even three or four centimetre rain used to be considered heavy but now rains are so heavy that they are measured mostly in centimetres. We need to find ways mof living with natural disasters.

    Dear shri Thyagarajan,
Normally madras has a moderate climate and shortage of rainfall and normal experience

is dearth of water. But our experience in 2015 was entirely different. Our house was flooded

and we remained without power for one month as the underground cable was totally

destroyed. The powerless house made me contemplate about natural disasters ,floods, storm and

the people facing.Hundreds of articles condemning the Almighty appeared in newspapers.

This made me contemplate a lot and Viswa's snippet on uninvited guests paved the way

for analysing the disaster thro various lenses.I thank viswa for kindling my thoughts.

Thank you Thyagarajan Sir for your appreciations.

Pleasure is mine. A volume can be written about man's contribution in this natural disaster. Major culprit is the rapacious expansion improper planning more carbon emission climate change causing arctic glaciers melts . Bangalore was quiet and eas considered next to ooty. In 40s and 50s those who go for holidays in summer to ooty visit Bangaluru and spend few days there before reaching then Msdrasnow Chennai. Yesterday it was cloudburst and Bangaluru submerged.

Afforestation is given a go bye deforestatation happening in full force. Clouds supposed to hv affinity to verdant greeneries and canopied mountains but today clouds hv affinity to only urban localities. Either it rains far exceeding the normal and unseasonably al destroying yhe crops. Man made disaster all around and vertical expansion is causing havoc all over the world.
In her book Mother Meera interalia states that aura of a person or place can contribute either gainfully or disastrously. When asked about huge number of devotees on pilgrimage died either in a stampede or the bus they travel dives into a gorge, she was speaking about negative and positive auras around the persons and when sum total of auras of all such pilgrims negative disaster can happen. Some say, Kaliyugam had ripened further and destruction man made or Nature caused would continue unabated.

    Dear Smt.Jayasala:

What a delightful presentation of science and spirituality combined in one snippet! I truly enjoyed reading your snippet. It is true that natural calamity is part of the maintenance of this beautiful planet be it a hurricane, Tsunami, Earthquake, Volcanic eruptions, etc. Techtonic plates are moving constantly and when it moves so much in one shot, earthquake is the result. The scientists recently published that the center core of earth slowed down substantially from the rotation of the earth and eventually stopped rotating. It is expected to rotate in the opposite direction of the earth's natural spinning direction. The axis of earth creates the seasons in our planet.

It took billions of years before life began to exist in this planet and there were so many conditions that needed to exist for life to begin. 100,000 light years away, the scientists say there is a planet similiar to earth atmosphere and I wonder whether the life exists in this planet. Even Moon orbiting the earth with its own gravitational force is helping the stability of the planet earth. In fact, Moon took so many hits from space debries to save our planet. We can't even begin to wonder how this universe is created whether it is a scientific wonder or God's beautiful creation. We don't know the full facts about the universe as yet and what we know is still a fraction of what is there for us to discover. I keep watching Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson's videos that explains some of the facts I never knew before. Japan building a lift to the space is one of the greatest attempt by humanity.

However, like what @balaji said, humanity is doing way too many things to destroy the planet's natural balance to benefit out of it selfishly without thinking that this planet is created for all species. Cutting down the trees, spraying chemical fertilizers into the fertile lands, throwing plastic waste into the oceans, fracking the earth to bring out the oil reserves, carbon emissions into the atmosphere to make a hole in the ozone layer, and many more. The results are arctic ice melting, ocean water levels going up regularly, sea lives affected so much due to littering of the ocean, unreasonable change in the seasons we used to experience and so on. Many scientists are saying that climate change is real but some governing politicians refuses to believe them.

Whether one is a believer of God or athiest, one should leave the planet doing everything possible to restore how it was created. Development efforts should also focus the attention of restoration of atmosphere to the normal level. Germany is a decade away from achieving 100% renewable energy and India and China are aggressively moving towards the goal as well. But some advanced countries like America which polutes the atmosphere a lot is still cavalier in their appraoch in moving away from conventional energy. Coal and Nuclear are still a major source of energy in the US.

Like our own lives, nature is a gift and we need to possess and preserve the way we maintain our own health. Food and air play an important part in lives of all species and without Annamaya and Pranamaya Koshas, Manamaya, Vignanamaya and Anandamaya Koshas can't thrive. Peace and happiness can be derived only when the right conditions exist and lives struggling to live can never think of their personal growth and development.

    Dear Viswa,
Thank you very much for your kind response.I completely agree with you.
    It is high
time that we understand the real worth of nature and how a balance is maintained
though with the intrusion of certain calamities
