I see that some people feel comfortable because the local governments have eased the restrictions and that the people are maintaining social distancing and/or wearing masks, gloves etc.

The fact of the matter is that the local governments are opening up more for economic reasons than for public health reasons. The opening/easing is with the full knowledge of increased covid incidence and associated casualties. Educated people should not let their guard down because they have allowed "opening up".

Until you are vaccinated or until we know that the virus has weakened/mutated to a level of it not being a threat, it's imperative to reduce social contacts everywhere possible.

:hello:It has become freedom vs restrictions harangue all over the globe: a restive young vs a matured old, have not vs rich, livelihood or life....
with relaxation of lockdown, the trend all over is not encouraging but increased awareness and don’t care attitude.

    2. It is more to pull on life at least in India that drives them to risk and get their daily wages. Rich and those with enough savings are still plying safe. Attendance in factories not picked up and there is lot of mismatch in production.

    3. Two days before, Opposite my building, a marriage party of domestic helps seen all with face mask including the bride & groom. With their discipline in following the social norms during the ritual conducted in open place, I was astounded and prayed for their well being. But then, today few of them landed in hospital and few of few turned confirmed COVID affected. With this our place so far seemingly unaffected is in grip of fears. This for easing the lockdown or relaxation .

    4. A small mistake AT GOVERNMENT level, the trend in CHENNAI City & in some districts the doubling rate has become steep. Affected persons in two digits has now turned into four digit figures.

    • According to Sylvia Browne, the coronavirus pandemic should all be over as quickly as it came:
    • “In around 2020, a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments. Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it was will suddenly vanish as quickly as it arrived, attack again ten years later, and then disappear completely.”

    5. Let us not loosen our guard. Stay safe. It is not time to follow do as Romans when one is in Rome.

    6. It is now forecasted, On the longest day of the year, 21st June 2020 when solar eclipse occurs, severe crisis economic, political and social upheavals, wild clashes between whites & Afro-Americans et al are anticipated.

    Thanks and Regards.

    God Bless.

I can understand your concerns, it’s very risky to socialise that too so many families together...I too would have a problem with it if there going to be such a gathering among my family or friends circle...
If loneliness is such a major issue why can’t just 2 families meet at a time in a fairly spacious place preferably one of their homes or backyards, common areas outside home, etc while wearing masks and zero contact and maintaining social distance...that would be better than multiple families meeting at one place...it’s very tough to restrain kids and toddlers from freeLy mingling with friends. anyone could be at risk of infection or be a carrier without obvious symptoms or have previous contact unknowingly with infected person...very big risk not worth taking at all..l would say no if I was invited to such a gathering in current situation.

I think the same too, because the government eased restrictions doesn't mean public goes full swing with socialization. It is meant for people to get back to work, not for enjoyment.

The government cannot put forced restrictions forever. They have shown a away and It is upon us to continue it according to our intelligence and for our own interest. Those who want to party let them party, those who want to attend gatherings let them be. Let us do what our heart tells us is right.
If you are not comfortable meeting others or calling cleaners or house help to your home, you don't go against your gut feeling. Here everyone is to their own. No one is going to stand by you later if something goes wrong.
I strongly recommend wait, observe, calculate the risks then decide.
    Thanks

A lot of recent US new reports have stated that rise in cases among younger people is being attributed to "private at-home gatherings". This is keeping us in high-alert mode and we're sticking to our original level of stay-at-home for all but essential items' pickup and short-drives around the neighborhood to check out how everything is. Fortunately, all our essential items - groceries, gardening items, and books, medicines - are available via curb-side pickups - i.e. we don't need to step in to the stores.

Although, it is getting more uncomfortable to share with close family and friends that we are not yet ready for opening up our home or visiting them - we plan to continue saying no to these for some more weeks. :-(

Our state and county regulations - which are "opening" up more and more every few weeks - without clear justification in terms of contact-tracers (hired and working), enforcing masks/social-distancing, etc is worrying - but that's the case in a large number of places.

I think its mostly the boredom and monotony of staying indoors tht might be triggering these parties. We have seen some people too. Well in my apartment, there was a birthday party apparently.
Maybe the tugging social ties are far too strong than the threat.
I stay at home all day and go out maybe once or twice a week if its absolutely necessary. But I see my neighbors going out almost every day. Maybe just boredom.
