Digestion processes of both mouth and the stomach are dominated by kapha dosha.
Kapha regulates the liquid throughout the body including saliva and various secretions in the lining of the stomach.Moistening, mixing, binding and lubricating and liqufiying of the food are the functions of kapha.
Kapha zone is from head to thorax region in the body.
Pitta zone is from diaphram to umbilicus.
Food passing the the small intestine is the most important part of the entire digestive system.Small instestine is graghani meaning grasp things .It grasps the essence of food. Many nutrients travel to liver where intricate metabolic processes help convert food into energy, other organs pancreas, spleen.gallbladder also asists in the complex job of digestion .These organ produce Hcl,digestive enzymes, pancreatic juice and bile.
It takes 3 to 5 hrs for the food to pass through it,during that time many nutrients are absorbed.
    Vata zone Navel region
The undigested food enters the colon. The third and final stage of digestion is controlled by vata.Vata controls the mechanism involved in drying and separa
    ting foods.
Kaphas ability to liquefiy and bind, pittas capacity to transform ,Vatas ability to separate and transport.
The precise coordination of all the three are critical to healthy digestion.
