Type of lengha choli to wear for office Christmas party in USA

I am thinking of attending my office Christmas party this year.

We are in USA, in a diverse metropolitan area. Most people dress casual to work, and come straight from the office to the party. Others have their wives and girlfriends come, and they are dressed nice.

I would love to wear a lengha choli because
1. it resembles an American dress
2. they look pretty

However, I don't know the first thing about buying lengha choli.

I want to cover the navel. I don't want the dress touch the floor, that is so unhygenic. I am looking for something simple.

And what type of shoes will match and be comfortable? Slippers? It is winter in USA, not hot weather like India.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I have had the horrible experience at Christmas parties of freezing in holiday wear (western). Whatever you wear, be sure you can wear long underwear under it as holiday wear is normally quite thin. I have a silk jacket I bought years ago in Delhi that I have worn....it has a lot of beadwork and I can hide a thermal shirt under it. You might also check out some North Indian winter suits....they at least are warm.
