Trunk, the Soul of the Tree

Watch these trees a little closer. What do you find? The trunk and barren branches of a tree. Watch a little more closely and we find the turns and twists the branches and the sub-branches have taken over the years. Why? To reach the sun for survival. Without light and warmth, it will die. It is the fight for survival with other trees and in the process, it has to go up and sideways so that its leaves may suck the oxygen and water from the atmosphere. In the process, the branches have to take tedious turns and twists. It's a struggle for the leaves, the branches, and the trunk.

And then the leaves can take it no more and must give way to new leaves. Some of the branches also give way to new. The trunk stands erect and strong.

The trunk is the soul of the tree. it cannot die. It will die on the day of reckoning only which may come as a wildfire or some tsunami. Till such time it has to protect and guide the branches and leaves for the period of their limited life.
