    selangor

Selangor is the heartland of the nation, it is the most developed in the country, it has the largest port and airport, it houses most institutions of higher learning in Malaysia, it's infrastructure and communications facilities are among the best in the region, and so on. But Selangor is also one of the most fascinating and scenic destinations in Malaysia, providing visitors a delightful, never-ending discovery.

With a bustling economy of agricultural, industrial, commercial and tourism activities, Selangor is home to 4 million Malaysians. The diversity of people makes Selangor a melting pot of culture, language, art, music and cuisine.

    Shah Alam Lake Gardens

Site of annual events such as the International Boat Show and the Selangor Orchid Exhibition, the Shah Alam Lake Gardens are a delightful system of man-made lakes that graces the town centre, surrounded by landscaped gardens. A floating seafood restaurant and the Wet World water-theme park are within this area, and picnic areas dot the well-kept parkland.

    Agricultural Park (Taman Pertanian)

The Malaysia Agriculture Park is the only agro-forestry park in this part of the world. It was initiated by the Agriculture Ministry of Malaysia in 1986.

The park is designed in such a way that it gives visitors a total experience of its natural attributes, scientific facilities and agricultural presentations. All these are set within a luscious tropical rain forest in a scenic 1,290-hectare site in Shah Alam, Selangor. Its planners have in mind an open-air 'university' for the dual purpose of recreation and education. Here's a place to learn all about trees by their names! As one of Malaysia's most popular parks, it has permanent displays, live demonstrations, cultural exhibits, recreational facilities, accommodation, picnic areas, open-air amphitheatres, natural trails, public amenities and numerous educational opportunities.

    How to get there
Own Transport : From Kuala Lumpur or Klang, take the exit on the Federal Highway to Shah Alam town and follow the road signs to the park

    Kampung Kuantan Fireflies

Just outside Kuala Selangor town is the quiet hamlet of Kampting Kuantan, site of one of the largest firefly colonies in the world. The nocturnal tours are extremely popular, with boats hired at the jetty and handicraft complex. Lifejackets are provided, and the skilled local oarsmen make this experience a memorable and unforgettable one.

Travellers along the Federal Highway from Shah Alam to Klang will notice a towering silver-coloured Keris Semenanjung on the left, just before the Bukit Raja Industrial Estate. This is the memorial erected to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the Sultan of Selangor's installation in 1985. The Keris is a wavy-bladed Malay dagger used by warriors of old.

    Kota Darul Ehsan

Erected to mark the sacrifice of the Sultan of Selangor in ceding Kuala Lumpur to the Federal Government, this magnificent marble arch incorporates architectural elements from the former state government offices, the famous Sultan Abdul Samad Building, and the old palace of HRH the Sultan of Selangor. Flanked by ancient Selangor cannons, the Kota Darul Ehsan straddles the Federal Highway as it crosses the state border with Kuala Lumpur..

    The Mines Wonderland

Built around a former mining-pool, the Mines Wonderland is an exciting theme-park with watersports, amusement rides, a winter-house with snow as well as restaurants and various other facilities. Pulau Ketam, Klang(specially for crab)

Literally translated as "Crab Island", this rustic fishing village attracts visitors with its unique stilt-village where the wooden-board streets are just five-feet across and the traffic consists largely of pedestrians and bicycles. Boat tours, homestays, fishing trips and birdwatching outings are available, and the seafood here is the freshest possible!..if anyone love to eat crab, this is the right choice.. i also love to eat crab last timeeee..

    Shah Alam Stadium

The Shah Alam Stadium is the central component of the Shah Alam Sports Complex and was officially launched on July 16, 1994. Since its launch it has successfully played host to a diverse range of events which include international and local sporting events, major concerts, cultural shows, large outdoor displays and tournaments. The Shah Alam Stadium is prominently positioned as the soccer venue in the country, being the homeground for the Selangor soccer team and the venue for most FAM-organised (international standard) matches. In 1997, it will play host to the World Youth Championship matches, which rank second after the World Cup in competitive soccer.

The Shah Alam Stadium is a massive 6 level semi-enclosed space, spanning an area of 155,000 sq m with a seating capacity of 69,372 and an additional 11,000 standing. The dimension of the pitch measures 105 metres by 68 metres...

    Sungai Chongkak Recreational Forest

This lush recreational forest is a scenic 33-kilometres from Kuala Lumpur. It nestles beside orchards and tropical rainforests, with facilities available for camping, picnicking and swimming. Chalets are available for rent, and hawkers ply a wide variety of food and drinks on weekends.

    Sunway Lagoon

The Sunway Lagoon is a former tin-mine that has been transformed into a major theme-park inn Selangor. It attracts crowds of visitors because of its comprehensive range of watersports, theme rides, amusements, restaurants and recreational facilities. Adjacent is a huge shopping and leisure complex called the Pyramid, which adds to the limitless range of activities at the Sunway Lagoon.

    Templer's Park

Located just north of Kuala Lumpur are a series of lush forest parks. Templer's Park, the first, gives the area its name. In actual fact, it is an expansive area of forests and cascading waterfalls nestling beside the Serendah Forest Reserve and the landscaped Commonwealth Forest Park. The latter has accommodation and camping facilities for the adventurous..

    Sungai Gabai Waterfalls

On the same road to Sungai Chongkak in Hulu Langat district, is the refreshing site of the Sungai Gabai Waterfalls. Several falls cascade down over 100 meters, culminating in a broad, photogenic plunge into a series of small pools suitable for swimming. The Sungai Batangsi Waterfalls and Sungai Lallang Recreational Forest are down the same road to Hulu Langat.....

    Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, a city covering 243.6 sq km. with a population of 1.3 million people, is situated on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, just about midway between north and south and approximately 35 kilometers from the coast. The days are generally hot and humid but the nights are pleasantly cooler, while the average annual rainfall is about 220mm.

Kuala Lumpur, which is also the capital of Malaysia, function as the center of Malaysia's political, commercial and social life. It is a city of delightful contrast - a combination of modern cosmopolitan, sophistication and lingering old world charm; a juxtaposition of gracious colonial edifices, pre-war shop houses and gleaming copper domed roofs against a backdrop of towering skyscrapers. Narrow streets of quaint old shop houses open out to wide-open tree-lined avenues. The favorable climate accounts for the lush greenery and profusion of tropical blooms in a riot of colors - a truly fitting background for its happy mix of multi-racial populace of Malays, Chinese, Indians and other races. The end result is unique blend of age-old customs and traditions: colorful festivals, songs and dances and a rich variety of foods to tempt the palate. Experience the multi-faceted fascinations of Malaysia - right here in Kuala Lumpur.

    Deer Park

Roaming in idyllic bliss amid ponds, trees and dense vegetation, within a 2 hectares enclosure, are spotted deer from Holland. Look out, too, for the elusive kancil, the mousedeer from Malaysia's rainforest

    Bird Park

One of the largest bird parks in the region the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park houses over 5,000 birds, with 90% local and 10% imported from overseas. The park spans 2-8 hectares of enclosure, 3.2 hectares of free flight aviary and 0.5 hectare devoted to the hornbill

This “ ocean of discovery ” is unveiled at the Aquaria KLCC right in the heart of the city. It is the first commercial aquarium in the Federal capital and a wonderful place to spend the school holidays with the family.
It's a RM60 million aquarium featuring some 5,000 aquatic and marine animal exhibits of over 150 different species from Malaysia and around the world – some caught, some sourced and some given. Boasting of an area spanning two levels and covering over 5,500 sq m, making it the largest in the world, the Aquaria has 19 tanks with various environments to keep and display fishes from various parts of the world.

Themed around two of the world ’ s major rainforests – Malaysia and the Amazon – Aquaria KLCC exhibits terrestrial, fresh water and marine creatures and it is also the first in Southeast Asia to exhibit the rare Sand Tiger Sharks from South Africa.

According to Aquaria KLCC public relations officer Amanda Chong, they have only been in business for two months and the response has been overwhelming. There will be at least 1,000 visitors per day and up to 5,000 visitors during public holidays.

The aquarium is also home to monkey-eating catfish from Endau Rompin, sharks from Singapore and the endangered fresh water tortoise called “ Chitra-chitra ” which were saved from the cooking pot.

A lot of visitors come here to learn more about the marine life and see what we have to offer, the feeding times are extremely popular with the crowd. Sometimes, there are divers get into the tanks to feed the fishes and marine life, and visitors crowding around the tanks during that times.

Chong says the aquarium also features interactive information and discovery kiosks, which are thematically linked to the aquarium.

Fully loaded with information on the existing exhibits at the aquarium, the information kiosks even provide real “ live ” video footage of some of the most fascinating exhibits.
    • Open from 10am till 10pm with the last admission at 9pm

    More Nice Pictures Klcc..2/-

HI.. HERE IS SOME MORE PICTURES IN KLCC//AQ

The green rat snake. No rats in sight. A staff member said it ate small mice. So why call it a rat snake?

This is truly a great place for the kids - it’s still fun for adults, but kids will just lap it up...

A gorgeous piece of coral reef in miniature. It’s really quite beautiful to look at. I’m actually quite tempted to go diving. But first I guess I need to learn how to swim….

Another of those tube thingies, much smaller than the previous one. They really seem to love this style…

This is a very cool touch-screen information kiosk. The design is very clean and easy on the eyes, and the software is very responsive and fast. Plus there is a lot of useful info crammed into these devices. Definitely worth a lot of money. Now I can see why they’re charging so much for admission…

The very large tank wall near the exits. Bring the kids here after all the walking, sit down on the seats provided and let your offspring loose on the glass display. I found that most kids just loved this part, despite the simplicity of the experience (it is after all, just looking at fish through the glass).

    HOPEFULLY EVERYONE ENJOY THE PHOTOS...
